Wonder how that will impact college games, specifically LSU?

It will shorten the game, less plays

Well that sucks. I wish the NFL would stop the clock after first downs.

Games faster, commercials longer.
It’s also going to stop clock in final 2 minutes of each half still.

Well you make a 60 yard first down the teams better move their arse to line up

No one needs to hear the BK Whopper jingle that many times.
Those stoppages are a big reason why CBS games will go on for 5 hours

Nail biting games will become anxiety attacks.

Well Gary asking for replays during Bama games also was a reason for 5 hours games as well

Will probably have to add commercial breaks instead

How will this affect the fun and gun teams like Miss St, OU and USC?

At no point did I say I wanted more commercials.
I want to give them a pause to let the teams get there and line up like they do in college after first downs.

Meh, I don't see the appeal of stopping the clock after every first down. I'd much rather the game be more fast-paced. The problem with CFB is the commercials though, so unfortunately this doesn't fix the problem.

The clock stopping after first downs in college football has created some absolute unforgettable moments. I like a team getting that moment to line up in a huge late game situation. Maybe they should only do it under the last two minutes of each half as a compromise.

The clock stops for first downs with under 2 minutes in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

You know, instead of fundamentally changing the rules of football that have been in place for well over 50 years, why not just reduce the amount of TV timeouts along with reducing the amount of time they are allowed to take? Instead of 3 minutes, reduce it to 1:00.
The networks would scream that they can’t afford to produce it without all those asinine commercials. Well, if the whole world wants to watch it, someone will stream it. CBS particularly as well as Disney can figure it out.
No one watches commercials anymore anyway

Good. Stopping the clock after every first down in this Era of offense is ridiculous.
For those saying "fundamentally change the way the game is played". They did that long ago with pro-offense rule changes. This actually benefits defenses finally.
