Read LSU and the team below its preview.. then know that THIS year's Biggest Game Ever is going to be bigger, both in build up and spectacle.

LSU: "For the Tigers, it really all comes down to one question: have they moved on? Because if January's searing 21-0 embarrassment in the BCS title game is truly in LSU's rearview mirror, there's no reason this team can't finish the job this year. With Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, and Co., they have the nation's most disruptive defensive line; with Eric Reid, Tyrann Mathieu, and friends, they have the nation's best secondary of ballhawks; in Kenny Hillard, Spencer Ware, and more, they have the nation's deepest stable of bruising tailbacks. A veteran offensive line, surehanded receiving corps, and -- finally -- a quarterback in Zach Mettenberger who Steve Kragthorpe can gameplan for rather than around is all just the icing on what ought to be a championship cake. But the BCS championship-defeat hangover has claimed plenty of fine teams over the years; if Les Miles can maneuver his team out of that headache, there won't be anything else to stop them."

Team Below LSU: "It's easy to look at the players the Team Below LSU lost after 2011 -- Richardson, Hightower, Upshaw, Barron, Kirkpatrick, Chapman, etc. -- and how many games they lost after their last crystal football in 2009, and assume another two- or even three-loss season is on its way. But that ignores that what the Team Below LSU haven't lost this go-round far outweighs what was left in 2010. Start on the offensive line, where (left to right) Cyrus Kouandjio, Chance Warmack, Barrett Jones, Anthony Steen, and D.J. Fluker have the potential to go down as one the SEC's all-time dominant units. No, there doesn't appear to be a gamebreaking wide receiver and the starting tailback won't go to the Heisman ceremony again, but when you have a line like that one and the ever-steady AJ McCarron under center, does it make any difference? And the defense is, as always, bursting with potential breakout stars--nose tackle Jesse Williams, pass-rusher Adrian Hubbard, linebacker C.J. Mosley, corner Dee Milliner, etc. A victory in Baton Rouge would bring a third BCS title in four years directly within reach."

85-0 LSU

I'm so fricking sick of hearing how great McCarron is. He has the game of his life against us in the NCG and all of a sudden he's Broadway fricking Joe.

Unless, of course, LSU wins it...

85-0.

We score 12 TD's and go for 2 as the clock winds down, just to seal it.

the ever-steady AJ McCarron
"Ever-steady"? Was I hallucinating when I thought I saw McCarron throw a pick in Tuscaloosa late in the 3rd quarter of the biggest game of the season with a 3 point lead that directly led to the other team's game-tying field goal that forced overtime in which McCarron's team lost?

Was I imagining that, or did the "ever-steady" McCarron actually do that? And is that the "ever-steady" McCarron who also threw 2 picks against Kent State, threw an interception in 3 straight games, and finished with a worse pass efficiency rating than Jarrett Lee?

I think it is hilarious that people have this idea that somehow McCarron has turned into some sort of perfect passing machine just because he had one really good game against LSU. It reminds me fondly of the way people reacted to Garrett Gilbert's performance in the '09 Championship Game. Remember how everybody thought, "oh, he's gonna be AWESOME because he played well in ONE GAME"? Yeah, that worked out well.

I'm sure McCarron's going to be pretty good this year, probably even a little better than last year. Which is about 1/3 the quarterback people are assuming he's going to be. He'll still throw devastating picks against elite defenses. He'll still throw some boneheaded picks against mediocre defenses. And this year, he'll be having to throw it a LOT more without Richardson to take the lion's share of the offense and the stranglehold defense smothering the opponents. It's going to be a blast!

Erin Andrews: Coach Miles, why did you go for 2 when you were already up by 12 scores?

CLM: Because they wouldn't let us go for 3.

No, actually that one was later. McCarron threw the one that led to our 2nd field goal.
