Just like everyone, they are already assuming this year is done-i.e. give 'em another one. Not gonna argue with Saban's success but I had to LOL at the comment and reasoning of greatness with "especially considering the BCS era, 8 conference games AND a conference champ game!" Ehhh, fellas they didn't have to play one last year to get there bc they didn't even win their conference, just saying...

Good, that worked out well when ESPN proclaimed USC the greatest team ever.

He's certainly the most deified - makes me kinda nauseous since if Colt McCoy hadn't got hurt in the first 5 minutes in 09, and if they hadn't had ESPN lobbying for them 24/7 for weeks last year to even get in the game, he might have 2 fewer than he does. I know, sour grapes....

5 of their 8 conference games last year were against teams that were 6-6 or worse.

injuries are part of the game, but he is 3 FG's missed FG's away from having zero. He is clearly a great coach and IF they do win it all this year, it would be an amazing run.

How can you argue? I'll go one further and say he IS the best college coach ever. He is also doing what he's doing with a 25 per year scholarship limitation, and a total team limit of 85 scholarship players.

Back in the day, the power schools could sign a shite load of kids in order to keep other schools from getting them. Scholarship limitations have made college football a sport of parity, except for Saban coached teams.

Sorry, but that's the truth. The guy is a machine.

He'd have 4 titles. What else would he have to do in your eyes. He'd have more titles than....

Peterno
Bowden
Carroll
Stoops

He'd basically be behind Bear and Yost

160+ wins and 4 titles would be pretty freakin stout.

He already is one of the best ever. IMO, he will be the best ever if he wins another one...sometime. Bear Bryant had unlimited scholarships. What NS has done in today's game is truly remarkable. Too bad it didn't happen at LSU.

If he won another one...he would have 3 of Bama's then 6 total consensus national titles.

Winning 4 National titles in 8 years will easily put him in the discussion as best ever

ehh...I actually think the Top tier was a lot stronger and therefore greater competition in the bowl games and big OOC matchups...the Top 15 echelon of all the power schools were all loaded up...instead of a few now who get the top and a bunch of middling teams making up the majority as it's spread out. The so-called parity has just weakened the #'s of power teams in that group at the top.
