Guess it'll be pretty easy to bump this thread if some ranter starts questioning Mainieri if we lose a game

Not sure about game one, but Game two was Jared Bradford. Coleman came in and pitched in relief.

That post was full of fail, Josh. Verdugo started game 1, and Ranaudo only pitched the 9th inning in game 3, way after it was all wrapped up. That's not really enough of a sample size to say he dominated them.

I know this, think I said although he didn't pitch much against them, he dominated the little chance he did have

All Ross pitched the whole weekend was 1 shutout inning in game 3 as well. So we really don't have anything to go by as to who was better against UCI.

I think Ranaudo is the better matchup for us against UCI.

People were worried (I don't know if people still are) but they were about Ranaudo pitching on Sunday. He only threw something like 40 pitches. He'll have 4 days off and it won't be an issue.

UCI tore up both Verdugo and Bradford, and I think Ross is a lot more like those two pitchers than Ranaudo is. Ranaudo will be able to overpower them more than Ross will. They might be able to dink and dunk Ross all over the park just like they did to Verdugo and Bradford.

jk... I think we go w/ AR1 Friday vs UCI

UCLAs ace doesn't have the best record vs good teams... I think we rock him and Ross gives us a solid outing, but Bibona scares the shite outta me

I'm trying to figure out why people keep using the 2008 game as an indicator for this year. Yeah, they have the same starting pitcher but they have only 2 starting position players left from that team. I'm sure they play similar styles of baseball, but I'm not gonna say anything like "well based on how they played 2 years ago...." As far as Ranaudo, you gotta go with him if he's ready to go. He's our number one and seems to have gotten his edge back. If he is back, he's by far our best pitcher, and we have to win this first game and UCI is not a pushover 4 seed like teams like Southern where you don't have to use your #1. We can't take the chance using anyone other than our #1 and possibly end up in the losers bracket.

You have to throw Ross on Friday. UCLA is better than Irvine and , therefore, should get our best arm. If Irvine beats Ross, you throw Alsup vs. Kent State and save Ant for game 3. That is the best way to get through this thing. You can't burn Ranaudo on the 3 seed with the 1 seed waiting in the wings. Thankfully we haven't dealt with this in years, but in this situation, you have to save Ranaudo for the 1 seed.

There you go with that attitude again Jeeves. Didn't you learn anything from the Mother of all fails?
