I'm firmly convinced 20% of LSU fans are going to be miserable no matter what and I honestly don't think it has anything to do with LSU athletics. There are deeper issues at work there. Too many of them live vicariously through their chosen sports team.

Huh? Sorry, I want results. I don't give a damn how the sausage is made, I just want it to taste good!

If this had been posted on September 1st as the likely outcome of the 2009 LSU Fighting Tiger Football Season, 80% of the Rant would gladly accept these results.
Most of us had LSU losing 3 to 4 games this year as we broke in a new QB and realized that we were the consensus pick for 3rd in the West.
it is these expectations why les has gotta go.. we still should have done better this year

We also didn't expect Ole Miss and UGA to be awful at the beginning of the season.
UGA going 7-5 is surprising, but is Ole Miss going 8-4 really that shocking?

Yeah. It's always easier to have 'expectations' and demand 'excellence' when you yourself don't have to do anything to bring it about. And you're right, it also will never bring them contentment.

True.
Remember the first game of the '07 season, when we scraped by Miss. St. to eke out a 45-0 win on the road? This board was lit up with that not being good enough. Obviously, we looked bad a lot this year, but like the original poster said, 9-3 with a shot at 10 wins, New Year's Day bowl, possible top ten finish, and a shot at a top five recruiting class I would think would make most fans happy. Yes, I think the end result is what's important.

Nope
Worst case scenario = #7
Unless we have a load of recruits leaving, which isn't likely.. we're pretty much a lock for another top class.

Top 10 Recruiting Class = a bunch of great players riding the pine....@ LSU.
Give us a practice report. I'm sure you are there every day. In your vast coaching experience (tell us about that too) and based on seeing every practice, who should be playing less and who should be playing more? Who has the greater grasp of the play book? Who has a hard time figuring it out? Come on. You are there every day. You see it all. You know every thing. Let us in on it.
Or admit that you are blowing smoke out of your arse and go away.

I will take results over opinions on "performance" any day of the week.
BTW, a 3rd place finish in the SEC and 14th in the Coaches poll is NOT a declining performance from 08, but an increasing one. imo

So true.
I keep waiting for recruits to buy a program and realize that freshmen don't play at LSU unless no one is already playing the position or someone gets hurt.

If we win the next 2 we'll likely end with a top-5 recruiting class. It's getting very close to being set in stone.
If we can land 1-2 more 4* players it's a virtual lock.
It really does not matter one bit. Its not like they will ever play their first or maybe second years anyway.

it doesn't matter if we have a top 5 recruiting class because the guys won't play a lot as freshmen?
That's retarded.
