Didn't even see it, but will co-sign on general principle.

Trying to add spice to the national anthem is freakin stupid.

This, in spades.

It's the National Anthem, not your damn personal play toy.

Sing it the way the melody was written, no more, no less.

They should get the band to do it

I've always wondered why the band has never showed up at the Box? I would've thought that at least the opening of the new Box warranted their presence, but I guess not.

And would it kill them, especially on military appreciation day, to have the ROTC present the colors?

As a Korean Vet, I agree. Just sing the damn song like it is supposed to be sung!

And it has become so very "cliche" for a singer to add their own personal touch that it makes me cringe when they do it.

When a really good singer sings it straight it gives me goose bumps and brings a tear to my eye.

I always feel bad when that happens to someone, and I guess so do the people in attendance because the folks in the stands will always help them out. I mean what else can we do? The lady is drowning in front of 7000 people.

But this howling that some of these wannabe idol stars do, like a previous poster mentioned "makes my ears bleed".

I thought she was great. Timely hitting with bases loaded...not so much.

As do I. Singing a cappella in front of a few thousand people is harder than most think, and once you've stumbled, you're done.

I was in Pershing Rifles when I was at LSU (95-99) and presented the Colors on numerous occasions in TS and also numerous other occasions/events at LSU and Baton Rouge as a whole. I don't recall us ever being asked to present the Colors for baseball games, but I also don't know if we would have been able to support. For things like that they would typically ask if you could support all of the games, not just one. Otherwise, people would complain that it was done for some games and not others. Much easier to support 6-7 home football games a year than 30+ home baseball games a year.

But nobody around here complains about anything, ever.

I see your point though.
