Matt Canada - C - Terrapins
Maryland is expected to hire former LSU OC Matt Canada as offensive coordinator.
Strong hire here by DJ Durkin. Canada's only LSU offense finished No. 54, but to be fair he inherited a mediocre quarterback and had to deal with offensive meddling from HC Ed Orgeron. Canada and Coach O agreed after the season that parting ways was the best for both parties. LSU's loss is Maryland's gain.
Only one year ago, Canada was considered one of college football's best offensive minds. He was a 2016 Broyles Award finalist as offensive coordinator at Pittsburgh. Prior to that, Canada was the OC at NC State (2013-15), Wisconsin (2012), Northern Illinois (2011), Indiana (2007-10), Northern Illinois (2003) and Butler (1997).

Impossible. I was told on this forum that his scheme sucks and he's a cancer so detrimental to a football program that he was going to be unemployed this fall.

This should infuriate everyone associated with LSU football.

It's like the moron that wrote that crap is a moron from the Rant. You got a link.

Canada seems to move around a lot. Could that be because he cant take direction?
Posted on 1/23/18 at 9:11 am to snakanator
Agree,,,he has to go to weaker conferences to be somebody....

Probably not because DJ actually knows how to run a program properly

It infuriates me that a guy who has had 6 OC jobs in 10 years still gets to dictate the narrative that it wasn't him, it was someone else, as the reason for his departure.
This is not a defense of Orgeron, but if you can't see Canada has a problem sticking around that has nothing to do with Orgeron, I'm not sure you can look at this situation objectively.

I mean, he came here to be one of the highest paid coordinators in the country. He's leaving because O needed a scapegoat. I don't fault him for these last two moves.

You're right. 100%. Absolutely no argument from me.

So is this your write up in an attempt to be a troll or is it from an actual reporter that you can find a link to?

It does seem he has a track record tough, so I wasn't really disagreeing with your overall premise. I don't think any of us will really know who was at fault here.

O only did what every head coach on the planet always does, i.e., be the head coach.
It's not like every head coach in history doesn't do the same damn thing. Indeed, that's why they are called head coaches.
It's like DALSU wrote that garbage himself. Which is why I asked him to provide a link, especially with his awful reputation and his long history of deliberately misleading people with BS.
Nonetheless, whoever wrote that garbage is a moron.
