Then why isnt every qb great? My god

Wow. There are many reasons that not every is great or even good. One of those is that "Not every person is properly coached".

We spend way to much time on the rant trying to convince others that this kid "can't play", or the other kid can. We can't assumed that everyone has been properly taught. If it's a human act, it can be improved.

My question is, do you think Canada could develop Brandon Harris as he did Jacoby Brissett and Nathan Petermen? I believe Harris has the most potential talent at the QB position.

trying to develop BH could torpedo Canada's career. sad to say, cut harris' career is over.

Not saying it's impossible but to teach accuracy and game management in one off-season is a tall order.

If he can get Harris to improve a little in his short game then I think he'd work out great but we should be prepared to see etling bc he's the more complete player right now.

That alone gives etling the edge because he will be coaching etling up just as much as he will be coaching Harris up.

But it's very hard to break bad habits that have formed in such short time.

Harris lacks accuracy. If he can drastically improve that, he can be developed.

He won't, but Harrris could still redshirt.

I agree all the QB's have someting to offer to the program. They should all be evaluated fairly and honestly and the best man wins the job. I don't care if it's a freshman we have to put the best players on the field. IMO every QB under Les and Cam weren't the best prepared or coached take a look at any game.

People forget we were making these exact same threads about Mett in 2012

A year of development can do wonders for a QB, especially one with that kind of talent

I believe the problem looking at BH is that at PRACTICE he looks fantastic. During games its a completely different story. So, the problem is between his ears. If C can fix that, which is doubtful, we won't be fussing about him if he starts. This problem is easier to see than a player that is great in games, but not in practice, because they usually don't ever get the chance. Seen both instances quite a bit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't Harris red shirt this year? If so he can get an extra year under Canada which may benifit him and LSU.

There isn't anything that will benefit Harris, his problems are in his head.

Kid was asked to do some tough stuff. For example LOONNNG comeback routes from hash to opposite side lines :30, 1:00, and 2:30 marks. Lots of vertical stuff, sometimes without a release valve (check down option). Single WR routes like at the :30 second mark. Not enough of the stuff you see at the 1:20 mark. Not many guys in college football have the arm talent to attempt some of this stuff consistently

Your explanation is helpful. I haven't reviewed the games from Mettenberger's big year, but I assume he was one of the few types of QBs that was able to pull this stuff off and gave Cam false expectations with other QBs. It was clear when Jennings came in that he wasn't suited for this type of passing strategy.

All i am going to say is we need a smart dual threat QB if we want to beat BAMA and i think that person is Lindsey Scott more than Brandon Harris, but both of those guys have more tools then Etling but Etling did get us through the season running the offense and managing it pretty well, he just doesnt have the arm these other cats have
