He was definetly a distraction, but the people on here that say he was overrated or didn't perform well know nothing about basketball. Dude was great (most games). Should have been SEC POY

Did you watch the documentary? Lol, that's not how it went down at all.
He did nothing for the team? He BROKE RECORDS!!! Antonio Blakeney came to LSU because of Ben Simmons. Brandon Sampson came because he saw them coming. People can't handle the truth nor see it when it is right in their face.
We have played 2 halves of good basketball, and people are crowning this team and shitting on last year. There are 5 people on the court. Most the time, 4 players are staring at Ben waiting for him to make a play. Half the time he did, what else should he do? This shite is getting ridiculous.
HE WAS THE #1 OVERALL DRAFTEE. He was top 5 in the sec in 5 different categories.
And oh he was a cancer? He lived with Hornsby and Darcy. Those 2 were probably the most team oriented players we had, and they were best friends with him....cancer lol
2 weeks ago everyone shite on this team. Me and like 3 others said they would be better than expected (got made fun of, btw)....but they're not an NCAA tourney team. Mays is smooth and I love him, but he's a FR PG. Blakeney played great last game, and was pathetic against Wofford. I need more than 2 games to see if he isn't completely streaky. Wishing for Ben to do badly because he only averaged 20/12/5/2 is PATHETIC.
I live in Philadelphia and show these threads to a couple of diehard 76ers fans...they think LSU fans are mentally retarded. What he showed at practices prior to getting hurt is complete opposite of what is said in these threads. Jerry Colangelo said on a local broadcast a few weeks ago that in 2-3 years Embiid and Simmons could be the best front court in basketball. But hey, let's hate on the kid and not claim him as one of us because CJJ sucks and TQ is a selfish thug who makes rap songs bashing walk on players (he sounds like a great fricking teammate).

he is not a team player! Idk how you can suggest he is when we played better when he posted up down low but he wanted to play guard. He should've been hard to defend in college but since he wanted to show off his ball skills all teams had to do is play off him and dare him to shoot a jumper or drive and draw fouls. He is an embarrassment to LSU. Idk why you are all over his nuts he wouldn't even go to class. Kid had it made and couldn't even be a team player for 2 semesters.

You know how many times he posted up and Tim Quarterman wouldn't throw it to him down low...a lot. Were you in one single meeting where you know LSU's gameplan? Did Johnny Jones come out and verbally say Ben is disobeying the offensive scheme? All of that is no.
Johnny didn't know how to coach such a rare talent. We spread the floor and ran isolation plays non stop. That is not Ben's fault. Should he have come out and criticized Jones publicly? Could you imagine how this forum would feel about that

Your lack of punctuation and grammar tells me that YOU need to go to class. Also, I LOVE how people act like this is a new thing. Do people realize he went to class and made the grades his first semester? He KNEW he was going pro, MANY college athletes don't go to class spring semester. It's one of the main ways people know when someone is going pro.
Why does Ben Simmons need to go to English 1001? Why would that make him a better basketball player?
Also, I need one shred of evidence that says he is a selfish player. Besides LSU, which is a school and has 5 people on the court at a time, did not make the tournament. Because everything I've heard, he's such an unselfish teammate that people want him to be MORE selfish.

He refused to play down low where he would have been more helpful to the TEAM! Why? because he is selfish and wanted to play on the perimeter where he was absolutely no threat offensively other than passing...and what happened after about 10 games? teams played off him daring him to penetrate since he had NO jump shot. He was basically a 6'-11" TJ Pugh.
His ball handling skills were great on fast breaks and in open court...in half court sets he should have been playing down low.

I've actually coached and played many sports, and I have been pretty successful at all. This isn't little league, this isn't middle school, this isn't high school. If the players are that mentally fragile that they pouted because Ben didn't go to class, then THAT is the reason we were unsuccessful. And I saw no one pouting but Tim Quarterman, which is way more of an indictment on him.
