Can the next coach not get a ten year contract?

Will that be too much to ask? Offer the world. Offer something stupid like $15m/year to Kiffin, if that's who they really target. But, can it only be for 3-5 years or are we not going to learn?

Elite coaches (and players) demand long contracts. It's the reality of the situation. You are not going to get an elite name for anything less than 7 years.

LSU has set a precedent now....if they want a big hire...they are gonna give a huge contract with a lot of years. If they hire a coordinator....then theyre safe. Kiffin or any other big name is gonna want what Brian Kelly got at the very least.

Then don't. There are good coordinators out there. And HC duties are reduced in this new GM model we have now. And they would cost way less allowing us to spend more on the roster. I'm not saying it's easy to find the next Smart/Day/Lanning/Kingsbury/Mcvay etc. But a legitimate search needs to be conducted this time around. None of this "We are LSU so we won't settle for anyone who hasn't been a playoff HC coach" bullshite. That's lazy

It's not the length of the contract that's the problem, it's the guaranteed payout thats the problem. Buyouts should be for other teams poaching your coach. After firing, give them a one year severance package and kick em to the curb.
