It’s not the snaps that are tough about going under center. The footwork and timing are way different and that’s the part of JDs game that is inconsistent, so why make it harder for him?

Also, teams go under center to establish gap scheme run game and play action passing off of that. LSU runs inside zone about 80% of the time so you would have to dramatically alter the run game scheme. You don’t want your qb turning his back to defense on iz with no way to read anything. That’s a recipe for a no gain play

Well, there is one in the bunch that can pick up what was laid down.

Congrats, good sir

For you slow learners, I personally would prefer a QB that could do both, but for whatever reason, our staff doesn't feel like JD is up to that. It is the ONLY answer here

And that's OK, b/c I feel that he is this team's best chance to win. My earlier response that was downvoted had nothing to do with Nussmeier or even Daniel's abilities from a direct snap, as much as what it says about our staff's belief in those abilities.

If you're worried about JD getting hurt, then put in Nuss or Collins or a version of wildcat with Diggs.

So naturally go in shotgun from the 1, center airmails the snap on 1st down

Because a center/qb exchange under center has never resulted in a fumble or anything.

They really should have some plays from under center, but what do I know?
