If she really exists. Like others have posted, you don't need a laptop to be on call. Congrats on the girlfriend who is on call and NEEDS a laptop to do some quantum physics calculations to save the WORLD while on call and watching an LSU basketball game. Thank her for saving the WORLD for me.

I date a nurse and have and do know many people who gave been and are "ON CALL" including myself. His is the first that I have ever heard of that needs a laptop to SAVE THE WORLD while attending an LSU basketball game.

My company builds subsea, topsides and chemical injection for oil wells. They can be controlled from around the world. We can shut down valves in South Africa from Houston.
We built a bell tower for the Exxon Valdese that is now stationed in South Africa. If there is a government overthrow we can close the valves or they can do it, pull up and haul arse with their floating oil rig.
Why someone would need to bring a laptop to a college basketball game to be on-call is beyond me. If she is a respiratory therapist she can get a call on her phone and needs to leave. A doctor the same.
I would like to know her profession that she can't do on a cell phone what everyone else in the world can do on a smartphone.
Is she a lawyer and going to trial at 8 at night? Is she in the medical field who needs to leave immediately?
What does she do that requires a laptop?
I do think it is GREAT he has a girlfriend. The story is lacking though.
