Correct me if I am wrong but didnt Reed decimate us last yr on read option runs rather than scrambles?

I think so, but still, good technique and discipline cut the number of plays like that way down. And it was more than Reed; it was also Nuss' meltdown in the second half.

. You have to get them off schedule to 3rd and long.

Against OM and Vandy, our defense could not get of the field on 3rd and long either. So what now?

They converted third and long as easily as they converted third and one. We sat back in a soft zone and just let them have their way. It was maddening at first, then predictable, then laughable at how easy it was.

Defending QB's like those 2 along with guys like Chambliss and Pavia are way different if you have to defend them for 88 plays versus 62 plays. Offense has to hold on to the ball instead of punting it right back to said dynamic dual threat QB - especially in the 4th quarter of games.
cmon man dont bring a valid point onto the rant. Baker sucks

Not having Whit Weeks and Bernard Gooden out would be a start.

The defense last weekend look nothing like our defense all season with Weeks and Gooden out with injuries.

Baker refuses to commit to perk as the spy. Loves blitzing him but enough times he simply doesn’t let him shadow the qb and react to his movements. Granted he was awful vs pavia

This is accurate. Without those two the interior D looked lost. Secondary was better. Need to avoid the qb runs to daylight.

Just Spy the QB and live with him throwing the ball.

Gotta trust your defensive secondary.

Perkins is part of the problem, not a solution.

Exactly. If anyone is interested watch Carters breakdown of the Vandy game.

Perkins wears the green dot but plays like he doesn't know what he is doing. He does not put forth great effort on the goal line. He makes way to many mistakes for a player thats gets a lot of hype.
