Thank you for coming to Baton Rouge and putting on that yella jersey, mayne.
We'll never forget some of those shots, just Ice Cold at crucial times.

Good luck to the young man. He will become a 20 pt/game type of guard. Now can he work on his defense for playoff basketball? We shall see.

I'm so glad Cam wore the P&G. And I got to see him smile... once.

Some of these players fade and disappear in the most crucial times.
Not Cam.
When the lights were the brightest, he straight up wanted the ball and made shots. Early in the game against Michigan, that shows you all you need to know.

Cameron Thomas finished with 57 pts in 2 career NCAA Tournament games.
That's tied with Kevin Durant & Zion Williamson for the most pts ever by a freshman through their first 2 NCAA tournament games (freshman eligibility began in 1973).

I really miss the days when players would stay at least 2 or 3 years. Shaq even stayed 3. Seems like you just get a glimpse and they’re gone.

NBA rules have changed for decades, look it up. You'd think one and done or straight out of HS is a relatively more recent phenomenon, it's not.

I wasn’t speaking of recent changes. Imagine how much it would have sucked if Pistol Pete had left after his freshman season.

I get you, no worries. I'm just saying. CJ was here for 2 seasons. And it was magnificent.
I appreciate Cam, even if it was just one season.

Same here. Not taking a shot at Cam at all. He’s absolutely doing what’s best for himself.
Just longing for the old days when a group of guys played together for 3 or 4 years and jelled as a team.

Who hasn’t stayed 2 years? Naz? Cam?

Simmons too off the top of my head. You’re only going to see the absolute cream of the crop one year it seems like these days.

Even when Jackson left it was very rare to see a guy leave after two seasons. And he left to become the 3rd pick in the draft. Shaq left after three years because he was the consensus #1 pick. Now guys who will be, at best, last guys on an NBA bench are leaving after 1-2 years.
Look, I understand why they want to leave and harbor no ill will whatsoever against someone who chooses to do what they think is best for their lives, but it does hurt CBB as a whole. It is rare for CBB teams now to have college "legends" because the ones that are good enough to become such don't stay longer than a year or two.
30 years ago you had great college rivalries because the mega stars stayed for 3-4 years. Now, 5, 10 years from now many casual fans will forget guys like Thomas, Ried, etc ever played for LSU. There's no real connection with the university made. Just a quick pass through they'd really rather not deal with in the first place en route to pro ball.
I certainly can appreciate his season here. But, unfortunately, that time will be soon forgotten by LSU fans with the passage of time because no real connection was forged. Compare that with a guy like Luka Garza who likely won't be drafted as high as Cam and likely won't have as good a pro career, but someone who will forever be a legend at the University of Iowa. I would bet if you asked a bunch of basketball fans on the street today where Kevin Durant attended college a large portion, maybe even the majority, would have no idea. 30 years ago if you asked basketball fans where Patrick Ewing when to college almost ALL would know.
I'm not bashing the players who leave. Just lamenting the fact that CBB history isn't bolstered by the best players making a very brief appearance largely forgotten soon after they leave.

I don't disagree with the continuity argument at all. I do think most people would know where Kevin Durant attended college. Will they in 50 years? Hell if I know.
My only point was the NBA eligibility rule has changed multiple times since the 60s. Just like a casual fan might not know where someone attended college, the casual fan likely doesn't know the twists and turns the eligibility rules have undergone.

Good luck to ya young man. Enjoyed watching you play for the Tigers, even if it was only for 1 season.

Still hoping Days returns
Days has never been someone you can count on. He'll give you a decent game or 2 and then he will be non-factor in the next 2 or 3 games. If he can make some decent money playing somewhere, he should leave.

Did most know that Cam was a 1 and done when he signed with LSU?
