A lot of people come on here and defend Byrd and thats your right. Just because some here dont work for ESPN or Scout or Rivals doesnt mean we didnt see every LSU game this year and cant make our own judgements.
Byrd had a chance to make himself shine in the Chick Fil A Bowl. He didnt.
If you watch the game and honestly say it was JJ's fault Byrd looked like crap then I must have recorded the wrong game.

i said all year that JL was costing Byrd money.

i know your not supposed to give up, and it looked like he did a few times but he was frustrated.

i remember at least 3 or 4 of the pick 6's JL threw, Byrd was wide open 40-50 yards down the field.

if you didn't notice, we rarely threw deep, which is why Lafell got so many catches.

i don't blame him for anything he's said, they quit on him first in my opinion.

Hell, Lee cost him big bucks.

Actually, RP cost him money because if he knew RP would not be at LSU he probably would have left for the draft last year.

Byrd quit on this team when it got rough. That's all anyone needs to know about him.

Maybe he'll end up in Buffalo with TO.

You could honestly make the case that Byrd cost us the Alabama game with his bobble of what should have been a catch in the first half. He batted the ball up because he heard the footsteps and it ended up getting picked resulting in 7 for Bama. We lost by 6.

Byrd is a front runner. It was obvious he quit on the team last year. It is stupid to throw freshman quarterbacks under the bus. Does he think the NFL scouts don't recognize who the quarterbacks are? Does he think they don't watch film?

i'm not really fully defending him, but he can't throw the ball to himself.

it's not like people were saying he wasn't trying in the first couple of games. he was blocking really well i thought, a sign of not quitting.

JL had predetermined who he was throwing too before the ball was snapped every play, and he wasn't smart enough to think that maybe they knew he was throwing to lafell over the middle and leaving byrd free down the feild, because he was open, many times.

it was still a terrible pass, but he shouldn't have knocked it up

Byrd cost Byrd money. Simply put, he's not a team player. What did HE do to help a young, inexperienced, and struggling quarterback?

he got open down the field, just never got the ball, had to watch pick 6's thrown 10 yards over the middle where 8 defenders were while he was 50 yards down the field with no one around him.

Byrd was our deep threat, like Devery was, only thing was we didn't throw it too him this year.

I was impressed with how he answered it. He was a cool cat today, at least in my book. He wore a real look of regret for allowing things to play out in the way they did (attitude wise).

I'm sure its easy to have regret when you are about to face the consequences for what he did. Maybe if he had been a better teammate he wouldn't have to be regretful

You are trying to justify him running half-arse routes. No one disputes he was frustrated with the QB play, as I'm sure most of the players were.

How you handle a little adversity speaks volume about character. We saw what he has when times are tough.

For all his bad passes JL still threw some great passes too. The guy just struggled as a first time starter in the SEC, what a shock. As for Byrd, he chose to be devisive (my opinion) as opposed to helping JL.

Now he's trying to cover for the season, don't think the NFL won't see where he quit or short armed.

i don't remember him half assing routes, the majority of his routes were strait down the feild.

if he quit, he sure didn't show it blocking wise b/c i thought he did a good job of that all year.

regardless i said it during the year and still say it.
he is 6'3", runs a 4.3 and we never utilized his assests all year.

JPW is not a good QB, but when he didn't know what to do, he threw it up to Julio.
when JL didn't know what to do, he shite on himself. he could have thrown into single coverage down the field, or no coverage down the field to Byrd all year but he never did.

if he throws into single coverage to Byrd and it's intercepted, no one gets upset with him b/c it's more the recievers fault usually.

Somethings are better left unsaid, and that was one of them by Byrd.

Those statements will only hurt his status whether true or not. Can't assign blame on a team, and people in glass houses should not throw stones. Byrd did not look good last year and looked at times like he quit.

If you're hiring for attitude, is this what a coach wants to hear from a prospect? That he can assign blame.

Couldn't he just go out and prove it without mentioning the QB situation? Like Nike says "Just Do It", and shut the fuc up. Scouts know why you didn't have the numbers from the year before, but now they know what kind of character he has.

It wasn't a terrible pass for a good receiver. Clayton would have made that catch 90% of the time.

i am defending what he said, but he shouldn't have said it. i don't really remember seeing him quit, but you could tell he would get frustrated on the field and on the sidelines

and espn has him at 6'3",lsu pro day has him at 6', that's a pretty big difference.

After reading the majority of these posts couple things are evident.

1) there is about a 60-40 split here. ... the 60 representing the people that think DB should keep his mouth shut and that he's full of shite, had attitude and effort problems.
2) the rest think its JL's fault, with about half of those idiots seeing this as another opportunity to slam JL.

Bottom line is JL was a fresh. BD was a SR.
DB showed NO FUKING LEADERSHIP last yr at all, however that is often typical of JRCOllege transfers.
Dont kid yourself or let your admiriation of him blind you,, he didnt.
He shouldve been picking JL up and encouraging him when he struggled. THats what leaders do. Not pout like a kid and shut it down.

I said it once already and Ill say it again.
Im glad DB is GONE and frankly I couldnt care less what he does or if does the NFL.
