Seventy six years ago today was June 6th, 1944 otherwise known as D-Day when Allied Forces invaded Normandy.

Just a thought during all the nonsense that has gone on in the last few weeks.
We are all Americans.

Patriotism is a racist dog whistle. Haven’t you heard?

The BLM supporters have no appreciation for this sacrifice. I’m sure they’ll burn a flag today in commemoration.

Maybe wrong board?

I have a military family that has served in WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Gulf War, and I still care about social injustices without waiving my support for the military or patriotism.

You’re conflating 2 issues that aren’t even really adjacent.

Multiple accounts of recent protesters burning American flags in DC, LA, and Atlanta as well as other cities. If you don’t think there is a strong vein of anti-US sentiment in the current protest you are just ignorant. The left is showing again they hate America.

The fact that Drew Brees was vilified for saying he respects the American flag and the national anthem shows that it is the SJW’s that are conflating the two.

You're the one doing the conflating, my friend. You seem to think you can be a Patriot and still disrespect America and the American Flag.

You stated what he said in the negative....it’s ok to think kneeling at the flag is disrespectful to the flag. It’s also ok to think it’s not disrespectful to make a peaceful non-violent expression of dissatisfaction with the social norms and injustice being JUSTIFIED by asserting patriotism. That’s conflation.

Brees caught a bad backlash that wasn’t necessary. I don’t disagree that there are people who in the name of defeating social injustice are supporting ignorance and incompetence by calling out an athlete for saying something that doesn’t hurt their cause.

But patriotism and human rights are by design intended to be separate. It’s the job of the people to make sure that human rights aren’t violated in the name of patriotism. If human rights are being violated in the name of the country, that demands something to affect change.

You are absolutely wrong. Not in America.

It is built into our Constitution (unlike almost every other country) to protect inalienable human rights. You are not a true American Patriot unless you are willing to respect and defend that Constitution. Perhaps even die for it.

That is why it is so wrong to say you want change and yet disrespect the very institutions that defend your human rights.

Do you remember how the country was founded? What the purpose of the American Revolution was? “Don’t tread on me.” We revolted against England because they weren’t considering our independent human rights. If Patriotism isn’t servicing social injustices, it’s only patriotism in name. You are a “Patriot” because you can be. White, male, probably in 40s-60s, and hasn’t dealt with any stigma in your entire life. Naturally, what do you care? I’m from a more progressive generation that values our morals. Sorry, not sorry.

No. I am a patriot because I believe in America and what it stands for. I respect the Constitution and the American Flag. I don't toss them out when we as people get off track.

I thought you said patriotism and human rights were exclusive of one another?

You sir, are a racist. You make generalizations about people based on color, gender, age, and culture.

No harm in being a Patriot, but it doesn’t mean you’ are supposed to only uphold those standards for certain people you agree with.

And please old man, I’m racist on “color, age, and culture.” Which one of those is a race you moron??? You think different colored people are different?

Did you mean to say “prejudiced”? If so, you may want to insert that word into the rest of your prior posts since it defines you so directly. ”GET OFF MY LAWN!!!”-you

You need to learn “words”. Hard to respect someone’s decision when they don’t even know what they’re saying.

If I said this issue was a whole floppy tree top, you wouldn’t understand and listen to my opinion because I sound like a moron. Quit arguing about floppy tree tops feller
