Devin White won the Butkus award in 2018. Some people on this board were very critical of Damone Clark this season. Many of you have since recanted your opinions. Some of you said that it was only cause he was much improved throughout the year. I don't see how one player could make such a turnaround from the start of the season to the end. In route to becoming not only the best backer in the Nation but possibly one of the GREATEST in LSU history. So lets see how Damone's season stacked up against DEVIN WHITE's Butkus award winning season.

GAMES - DWHITE (13) < DCLARK (12)
Tackles - DWHITE (123) < DCLARK (135)
SOLO - DWHITE (62) < DCLARK (77)
SACKS - DWHITE (3.0) < DCLARK (5.5)
INT - DWHITE (0) < DCLARK (1) Game Sealing INT
FF - DWHITE (3) > DCLARK (2)
FR - DWHITE (2) > DCLARK (1)

It's actually not even close. Devin White is obviously the standard. Devin is the better overall player. But the stats don't lie on how great of a season Damone Clark had this season. He was an absolute animal and he will certainly be missed.

Here's hoping Damone Clark takes home the Butkus Award.

Not to mention a better overall defense will limit tackle opportunities

He was a significantly better player towards the end of the year. A tackle is a tackle in the box score. But to those who know what they are watching, not all tackles are equal.

That’s great for Damone and he is about to get paid. But….. there are some things that stats just don’t show and Damone isn’t the LB that D. White was at LSU. Devin was a top 5 pick. Damone will be lucky to be in the 1st rd.

Once Damone tests at the combine, I could see him in the first round. He's massive, long, and fast.

Bradie James had 154 tackles in 2002 and didn't even make the Butkus finalists list!

Just curious if TFL can be added. Biggest knock against Clark is that he generally waited 5-10 yards down the field to make the tackle instead of closing the space. Another thing he got better at throughout the year.

And even if it was Pelini’s fault, Clarke was lost and a huge liability last year. D White was never a liability.

Well you have to look at this way. Plays MLB in a 3-4 is completely different from being MLB in a 4-3.
