Top “Overall” player was JD and no one else. Penix was really good don’t get me wrong but JD was it.

Yeah seems like they gave LSU the middle finger after Joe stood them up.

There may be some legs to this.
The Maxwell folks may have felt LSU should have done more to persuade Joe to attend.

He probably said his college career was over and he was preparing for the draft in Los Angeles and not flying out
Maybe he did not want to be used as a banquet fundraiser without compensation as a professional.
No one knows. But Joe did not go after receiving the award. So they had a Maxwell banquets without a Maxwell winner and probably did not sit right with them.

The banquet is in March so it’s not like he was still doing the awards circuit.

Anybody else find the conduct of both Burrow and the Maxwell organization at fault?
Got no clue why Joe was a no show. It seems petty, even though it is not a major award.
BUT, to deny an award to a fully deserving, later recipient because of a history in which that recipient played no role, is far worse.
The Maxwell folks should be ashamed.
