re: Brody Miller reporting, two SEC coaches "we are more scared of facing Max Johnson".

Why would anyone think Max Johnson would transfer if Myles Brennan is named the starter? Considering last year did not count Johnson has 5 years of eligibility. Johnson also has his brother Jake coming in 2023. Common sense, why would he leave? He plays behind Brennan, a 5th year senior for one year, maybe two and will still have 3 or 4 years of eligibility. Johnson is not going anywhere when Brennan is named the starter.

not all running threats look like Michael Vick or Lamar Jackson but Max Johnson is definitely a running threat my friend
On 1st and 10 if the play breaks down and MJ can get you 5 yards to set up 2nd and 5, that's a running threat. Also able to pick up first downs by getting 12 yards is huge too. Don't need a guy to rip off 30 yard runs

Well you might get your wish if Johnson is named the starting QB. But watch what you wish for. Brennan will not sit behind a freshman, last year didn’t count so technically Johnson is still a freshman, after sitting and learning behind Joe Burrow. Brennan lit it up in the 3 games he played before his injury. Better numbers than Burrow in 2018. He will play for someone, somewhere next year. Let’s just hope it’s not against us.

quote:you're cherry picking. Burrow, in 2018, was under Ensminger's crappy offense, which held his numbers way down.

Max was 4/10 with 40 yards against first team defense.

I'm blaming this on the play calling which was greatly improved towards the end of the season. I don't think it had anything to do with Myles just not getting it done or missing open guys
Meanwhile, Myles had the benefit of Marshall and Gilbert playing. While Max didn't and still beat better teams than Myles.

Hell, Brennan has been under Canada, and Ensminger for 3 of his 4 years at LSU. It’s a wonder he hasn’t jumper off a cliff yet!

1. Our third down conversion rate was bad all season.
2. We punted more and scored less against Florida than we did against Missouri. Turns
Out if you convert a 3rd downs before punting later that drive it doesn’t mean anything.

Better Teams?
Florida sat out half their team to get ready for AL in the SEC Championship. Then if the dude doesn’t throw the shoe it’s game over. Then we still have to kick a 60 yard FG. If all those things don’t happen we lose. But Johnson won the game? Come on!
And OM still can’t spell defense.

Burrow wasn’t real a rushing threat until
He had to be

Have you heard how talented Nuss is? There is no guarantee that Max will beat out Nuss. In addition, if Max transfers, so will Jake as well. Not to mention, his eligibility just gives him more reason to transfer.
Meanwhile, if Max starts in 2021 and if LSU can put together a decent offensive line, LSU will inevitably make another Championship run in 2022.
As the QB will be very experienced, the running back corp will be loaded to the gills, Boutte and Gilbert will be juniors, and the young receivers will be far more experienced as well.
Meanwhile, the defense will also be loaded to the gills.
However, if Myles starts in 2021, Max, if he beats out Nuss, won't be experienced enough to make another natty run in 2022. But in all probability, Max will be playing for someone else by that time.

Ole Miss pass def was ranked 125/127.
Florida pass def was ranked 100/127.
They weren't great teams.
The defenses Myles played sucked too but our defense didn't have a pulse. 40+ points should be good enough to beat MSST, Vandy & Mizzou

Given last year didn't count against his elgibility, MAx could conceiveably RS this year if Brennan is named starter and still have 4 years left to play. It wouldn't make any sense for him to transfer after fall practice. He'd be sitting out this season regardless, and Myles will be gone after this season regardless. Brennan would be more likely to transfer if he's not named starter but that wouldn't be a guarantee either

Who did Myles beat? Oh yeah and absolutely horrid Vanderbilt team. Who did Myles lose to? Oh yeah, absolutely horrid Moo State and Missouri, and he did it with Marshall and Gilbert.
Meanwhile, Max beat a sixth ranked Florida team and a very good Ole Miss team that beat Indiana in its bowl game. However, unlike Myles, Max did it without Marshall and Gilbert.
Not to mention, LSU had the ball for four downs on the Missouri one yard and couldn't punch it in. LSU couldn't run it because the Missouri defense keyed on the running back because they knew Myles couldn't run. Meanwhile, even though he had two tries, he still couldn't pass in the for score either.
Meanwhile, if Max is the starter in 2021, LSU will be set up to make another run at a natty again in 2022 because Max will have the requisite experience by then.
If Myles plays in 2021, on the other hand, you can forget about that. Plus, Max will probably transfer and Jake won't be far behind.

Does that mean 12 coaches said they ‘are more scared of Brennan’?

We also gave up 40+ to both those teams. And Miss State had a better defense than Florida.
I hate Ha I no this argument because yeah, Johnson was great for a freshmen, but his state vs Florida were just ok. We only scored 30 points on offense. We had to drill a 50+ yard FG to win, and that drive wen almost no where besides that PF. The defense not only healed that good Florida offense to 34 points but had a few turnovers that resulted in points for us.
Give Johnson his due, but also give everyone else in the team their due as well.

Well that settles it, we'll just put Max out there by himself.

I can't believe anyone is still defending TJ over Max.
I suppose it certainly shows who to avoid taking serious from here on out.

I’m not buying that either of them will transfer
