And nothing locks him into the draft until well after that. Reminds me of Zach Lee. Several people wanted to hate on him for signing, but any decent financial adviser would tell him he would be an idiot not to sign. You give up probably at least $1M and risk devastating injury by staying. If you get injured in the pros, at least you have medical and a contract to get you through the lean times.
I'm not saying I could fault the kid. I have no idea what I'd do. I am just pointing out facts about where he could be drafted this year compared to next year.

the only way is if they grey shirted and have been in college for 3 years

No point in redshirting because if your good enough you lose one year of field time

Not really, because of 1 less year of playing time it is going to hurt your draft stock. And may influence your decision to stay. Also the college coach gets a more mature player.

Couple days ago he said stuff about he's ready to be a businessman. and he's gonna play like he's already in the NFL against Bama
Maybe I'm reaching, idk

Lol at you thinking hype matters and these 2 guys are somehow unknown by NFL scouts. They aren't sniffing the 3rd round and likely not the 2nd. Hell, Brockers is more likely to go top 10 than the 2nd round. 6'6" 300+ pound DT beasts don't grow on trees. And I'm sure some scout somewhere will discover this diamond in the rough hiding in the middle of the line of the fricking national champions.

link? I think you are blinded by racism again.

I knew they were both eligible, but I didn't think they were thinking about leaving. There are incentives for both ways. I wish they would stay, but can't say I would blame them for leaving, especially when we beat Bama again on the 9th.

i like sam but really majority of his sacks come from coverage sacks or Mingo chasing the QB into his arms
DE should be the least of worries. Without SM99, 2012 is:
BM49
JR59
LE89
JM54
JA98
CA87
DT even without MB90 in 2012 is:
BL93
AJ56
EF9
MJ96
QT95
This doesn't include incoming freshman that may be ready to play.
I hope they both return but if not, NEXT...

Montgomery could end up a top five pick next year. I don't see him going higher than third round this year.

You do not risk your body for another year in the SEC.
Do you have some stats that show more SEC guys get hurt than other conferences?

the LSU offensive lineman that was injured what was his prospects last year?
Josh D? Probably not much.

It would hurt losing them....we really only got 1 season from them as starters I love em...dont' want them to go just yet
I'm with ya. They need to stick around one more year.
Moscona also talked about Reuben Randle. I agree with what he said- that it would benefit RR if he stuck around for a senior season that SHOULD be a little more pass oriented with a big-arm QB finally at the helm. A senior season playing pitch & catch with Mett could mean a lot for his draft stock....

Josh D woulda been a top 5 pick after that AU game

I have gotten the feeling that LSU fans applaud players for going early in the draft, instead of crying and badmouthing.
I don't know what other fanbases do, but I see LSU fans having a positive outlook about this.

I think he was talking about Francois and Hatcher. Who both played a good bit this season and started at some point during the year.

They say the second year removed from ACL surgery is when players are actually "back", so Montgomery may have a tough decision if he isn't projected to be a first round lock. He could really improve next season.
Someone mentioned B James earlier but he didn't leave early.
