So listening to locked on LSU this morning and Matt did a really good job of going over the advantage LSU has at QB. Also did a good job of highlighting how Weigman is struggling in clean pockets to read coverages and that is where most of his interceptions have come from.

brought on Salsbury and he also highlighted how concerning that is for A&M and how dont be surprised if LSU comes out and plays coverage to start to see if Weigman can beat them with a clean pocket. Said that knowing Weigman since HS that he absolutely lacks confidence right now and is struggling to to read the coverage in the new system.

he only has 3 tds to 4 ints in 4 games and MSU dropped 2 others. Even in his high water mark against Mizz he had zero TDs and 300 yards. 2 of the four games he struggled to get 100 yards passing.

so dont be surprised if we are not blitzing at the start of the game and adjust as needed based on how Weigman is playing. If moscona can see it, i promise blake and crew have seen it. and if we need to dial up pressure....not many are as creative and good at it as Baker.

Focus on stopping the run then make him beat us with his arm

that will 100% be the focus. If we can stop moss....i feel very good about the game. If LSU out rushes A&M....I dont see them beating us.

In his defense, he didn't need to throw any TDs because he got the team into scoring position with his passes and the RBs took care of the rest. He went 18/22.

It also depends on how the run game is going. Expect Klein to start out with some sideline passes and runs up the middle to test the defense. He'll occasionally call a deep shot to loosen up the secondary, but he's going to want to use our bread-and-butter (Moss and the run game) to chew up the clock, wear out the defense, and keep the ball out of Nuss' hands.

As for struggling to get 100 yards passing... ND was a total mess, no denying it. He played like crap, and I'm done making excuses. For the second game, he only played the first half against McNeese State, and in that one, he went 11/14 with 2 TDs and no INTs.

To answer your original question, though, I'd play coverage. He has a really bad habit of staring down his WRs, and if LSU's DBs are patient and Klein doesn't get that fixed, there will be plenty of opportunities for LSU to get some picks and pick-sixes.

i expect us too.... and to focus on trying to stop the run

Moss scares me the most. Connor scares me when he breaks the pocket more because we havent always shown discipline to handle that, been much better this year but still have flash backs to last year.

how much is the injury hampering his ability to move and take off?

Our pressure packages are much better than our coverage skills.

Not at all. His injury was to his non-throwing shoulder, and his first game back (against Mizzou) he took off and made intentional contact with his shoulder into defenders instead of sliding.

You should never dictate your game plan off what your opponents strengths and weaknesses are….you dictate it off your own.

This is straight from Nick Sabans book

Stop their run is the key. As far as their passing game we are gonna have to blitz because our secondary can’t cover for ever unless we can get home with four.

Saban employed the belichick philosophy. Identify your opponents strength and take it away at all costs forcing them to play with one hand tied behind their back. He would also find the weakness of the opposing offense and intentionally exploit it. Sounds simple, but football at its fundamental core is not a complex game.

I expect this to be 100% geared for the run and a lot of man coverage most of the night. In obvious passing downs, I would guess press man and blitz. Thats just who Baker is. Before the Arkansas game I felt like we were protecting our corners as much as possible but I saw more confidence and playing the ball than in any of the other games. I think Coach Raymond has helped the secondary really turn a corner.

Who knows, everything I just said could be completely wrong. As long as LSU gets the W, that’s all I really care about.

wow, how wrong.

It's a combination of both - you have to know our own strengths and weaknesses and also our opponent's strengths and weaknesses. Use what we have to negate our opponent's strengths and attack their weaknesses. It's Game Planning 101.

Merely playing to your strengths while ignoring your opponent is a recipe for disaster. This was what Les did too often on offense - running into a stacked box because we ran the ball well against lesser teams. When we played teams with a good DL, it failed.

Err on the pressure side since we are great at strip sacks, but take your shots in smart situations.
Going to have to use some disguise packages that we haven't shown.

With the way Weeks is playing In the middle, I like our chances. We continue to improve every week on that side of the ball. I would love for this team to play a complete game on offense and defense. We would be scary if we can get all 3 phases clicking from here on out.
If that would happen, I Even like our chances Vs Ga. Or Tx

This. You know A&M is going to try and establish the run to control TOP and limit our offensive possessions. Stopping the run is going to be the biggest determination on how this game plays out.

Gotta mix it up and be unpredictable. Our defense needs to dictate their offense. We cannot play reactionary (AKA Matt House) defense. Do what we do well and make adjustments but do not changing our defensive philosophy.
