Brennan's flea flicker to Kirklin reminds me of Burrow's TD to Dillon vs Miss St last year

Both required great touch and perfect timing to complete the catch at the back of the endzone.

Brennan to Kirklin flea flicker

Burrow to Dillon vs MSU

Also, Brennan delivered that ball with a big hit bearing down on him, also very similar to what we were used to seeing with Burrow last year.

I'm not saying that Brennan is in Burrow's league yet, but it sure makes me feel better about his potential to get there.

Myles looked way more comfortable and decisive this week. That throw was a dime for sure. I think he'll get better and better

Myles' pocket awareness was improved, and his feet were less "happy". He still had moments where he stood flat footed and got nothing on his throws, but, judging him by a "normal" standard, and not the Burrow standard, I'd say it was a very good performance, overall. And that was with several frustrating drops.

When he starts to face good defenses, I'm concerned about his pocket awareness being an issue again, as his nerves will be tested. But, for what this game was, he did well.

True - Burrow was a once in a lifetime phenomenon - the game presented itself in slow motion for him. With balls of steel.

Take a while to climb down from that expectation. Easier to do mentally than emotionally while watching mere mortal play.

I’m sure lots of people thought Brennan overthrew the flea flicker like I did. When it was caught my jaw dropped. It was a nice throw.

Brennan has progressed. Did anyone see any of the Bo Nix performance? I feel better now.

Indeed. All off season, whenever I thought about LSU, I tried to visualize what "good" offense meant before last season, and tell myself to be glad if we can achieve that. But it was always going to take some time to adjust and sort of recalibrate our minds to more reasonable expectations.

That being said, I expected more, realistically, from Brennan and the entire offense last week, and they just seemed unprepared. They racked up some yards, but that's going to happen when you're forced into a shootout. Last night was much more (aside from the drops) of what I hoped to see.

We'll see if they can keep this up as the competition stiffens.

Liked the play but it was kind of a short field to run it. 10 more yards and thats a less stressful play for us watching, haha. Im happy Kirklin is getting good play. He looks solid and was 1 foot from having a 3rd TD

He looked a little better and a little worse. He had a clean pocket (zero sacks) so we really don’t know if it was getting the ball out sooner, more time , poor coverage by Vandy or a combination thereof. We do know the run game helped slow the rush defense because of the play action.

The truth is unless Peyton Manning defensive reading skills are somehow through osmosis transferred into him, this team is going to lose at least 2-3 more games this season. That’s not too bad considering that this was a rebuild. Why? Brennan missed some wide open throws like the TD attempt to Kirkland streaking down the right. The INT has open receivers. I have seen ZERO touch back shoulder throws and more concerning, in this offense you absolutely must be a threat to run. He pulled the ball ONCE in the 3rd or 4th and gained 3 yards. I’m not comparing him to Burrow. This offense is capable of him being a 70-75% passer with this talent at receiver against teams like Vandy and he was 60%. Even with the few drops he is still under 65%. That’s a cause for concern.

Edit: OP you can downvote or you can refute what I said with facts.

How many back shoulder throws have you seen? Come backers? In phase completions on streaking WRs with DBs in phase? Intentional 50/50 high point throws? And can you honestly refute the comment about him needing to be a run threat?

Ok ok, we can’t compare Bo Nix against Georgia to Brennan vs Vandy. At least Bo can run for his life if necessary. Brennan is a sitting duck back there

The only thing I noticed is that he tends to look one direction only. Really good safeties could bait him. Luckily we have another scrimmage next week for him to improve before Florida.

Bo Nix fricking sucks regardless of the UGA game. If his last name was Smith no one would talk about him and he damn sure wouldn’t be starting for Auburn

OK. Downvoted as requested.

My point is that we just don't know. How many of those things do we see from other quarterbacks on their second start? There are encouraging signs, but the negatives don't necessarily indicate a ceiling at this point.

...in his second season at LSU, his FIFTH overall. If we are to compare Burrow with Brennan we should compare 2018 to 2020, then 2019 to 2021.

I was drinking pretty heavily by that point and I started squealing like a little girl when I saw it, because to me it looked like a perfect pass in real time. I wasn't expecting it and it just made me really happy lol!!!

Brennan whipped it out and stood tall in the pocket and got popped a few times. I saw him make some hot throws and dump offs too which is encouraging. Very good performance by him. It’s yet to be seen if he can handle simulated pressures and disguises like MSU threw at him but he looked good against a 4 down front.

Kudos to him

Amazing how many QB gurus exist that are also LSU fans.
