what else was he going to do? Stay?

as much as it benefits the program to have a backup QB that has real world game time experience, he's doomed from the start

lets say:

-Etling goes down
-Harris comes in
- the second he drops back to pass, this board is in an uproar.."why is he passing?", "put in ________", "he's proven he's no good, bench his arse"

He's played himself into a no-win situation. Blame whomever you want, the kid, the coaches, whatever....he did not produce on the field. He would effectively have NO leash. The first bad series, the next QB up is in the huddle

Sticking around does nothing for him or the program, it's the right move. Good luck to the kid

Hope he does well and proves that his ability to grow as a QB was greatly hampered by the miserable duo of Les Miles and Cam Cameron.

Definitely should be on there. I'll have to study the issue.

Good luck to Brandon! I appreciate his effort and understand his decision. Most of all I feel bad his tenure here was under that idiot Cam Cameron

I must've replied to the wrong person but I saw a quote doubting that a redshirt freshman could fill in for Etling if he goes down. You had said Hurts was built like a man, and I was saying L. Scott was built like one too. I must've confused your quote with his. My bad.

Personally, I don't think the young man was put in a position to succeed. Very talented coming out of high school out of a spread offense. Came down to Ohio State and LSU for his schools. Talent had to be there, but just was a square peg in round hole offense philosophy wise.

All the best to him. Hope he does well at his future school.

Didn't thank coaches

Pretty sure the only offensive coaches left from his time are the Tight Ends and O-Line coaches.

Help me understand the term: "not put in a position to succeed".
First, It seems to me that being made a starter as an underclassman is about as much as one can expect under these circumstances;
second, he was surrounded by NFL talent on offense. especially at the talent positions;
third, the offensive threat the defense was concentrating on was the best running back in college football in decades.
True, his coaching staff was not up to the job. But he was placed in a position to thrive otherwise and was not jerked the first time he made a mistake.
If anything, Les stayed with him too long.

Who would want to stay in this no-win situation? Everyone would second guess any decision involving him.

Many of the fans mistreated him.
