Is he the best punter LSU has ever had? Correct me if there have been any other solid punters.

Donnie Jones and Chad Kessler come to mind

Wing's 2011 season was unreal, though

He's the best punter to ever have a TD called back due to celebration.

There were Aussie punters before him, but his 2011 season really turned it into a thing.

2011 was the best season I think for any LSU punter, but Chad Kessler had a better career.

And probably Donnie Jones.

Kessler was the first in NCAA history to average 50/punt for a season. Obviously that doesn't tell the full story about his season but that's still a pretty crazy stat

Had a beast leg. Strongest I've seen at LSU. But you're right, there's more to punting.

Wing mastered the rugby style. He not only could boot it, he could pooch it inside the 10 better than anyone I can remember. Our field position advantage from him was unreal that year.

And he might've been MVP of the Bama game at Tuscaloosa.

Didn't Saban yell "GOD DAMNIT DONNIE!" towards the end of the OU game when we were trying to milk the clock?

No one. I mean no one. Could flip the field like Brad Wing. We don't beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa without him.

He yelled "WAY TO GO DONNIE!" Just like how John Goodman says it in The Big Lebowski

We had a separate "pooch" punter that year allowing Kessler's average to be so high. Still a great punter but never asked to punt even close to opponents side of field

He would win a popularity contest maybe but not top 3 for best. His last season he struggled. Kessler was the greatest.

The whole punt team was unreal that year. He had some terrific gunners that were able to down the ball rather than let it run into the EZ or make a stingy tackle. I think that wound up with like 3 yds net return on them that year.

What made Wing so good was he could hit the football like a pro golfer hits a wedge shot. He could hit his ball consistently a certain yardage and the gunners knew where to head. The other thing that he could do was curve the ball flight down the sideline and pin the runner against the sideline or in the coffin corner. I watched him warm up a couple of times from the SEZ and he was remarkablely consistent.
