everyone knows LSU is the premiere football college in louisiana, so when LaTech has a pretty good year why all the hate. All anyone said was that the punter from Tech was good and deserved to win the award. No one said wing was shitty, I think wing is a damn good punter and he has a little attitude to go with it so that makes him that much better.

I don't follow Latech so I don't have a clue about how good their punter is. I do know that wing has changed the world of punting his freshman year and has about a 12.8 inch average return of his punts thanks to freaking hang time. I am going to guess that someone got more yardage off of Latechs punter on one return than the entire 13 teams that LSU played.

So am I wrong? Are is Wing the best?

Allen led the nation with punts inside the 20 with 37 and punts inside the 10 (20). He is the nation’s third-leading punter in gross average at 46.3 yards per kick. Also, the Bulldogs rank eighth in the nation in net punting (40.15).

Allen, of Salem, Ore., boomed 29 punts longer than 50 yards, with a long of 72. Of his 78 punts, 28 were not returned and none were blocked. Allen only had 5 touchbacks.

Wing has 50 punts for a 44.1 avg with 5 touchbacks and 23 inside the 20. He had 18 longer than 50 and 1 blocked. His net punting is 43.7.

If you ratio up Wing's stats to the same attempts as Allen it would be...

36 punts inside the 20 with 8 touchbacks and 28 longer than 50.

Summary: Allen has a slight edge on pinning teams inside the 20 but both are great at it. Wing has a substantially better net average because his are virtually unreturnable. Wing has one blocked and Allen has none.

In my opinion the block tilts this to Allen. Without it I would have picked Wing. You can't go wrong with either of these.
