Damn this really sucks...all this time I and probably you and Ricky always talk about how great it was beating #1 Florida in 1997...I guess we have been wrong we beat #5 Florid

yep. we beat a team that finished top 5.

again if you want to use when they played thats fine but people will always bring up final rankings.

I say we beat Florida when they were #1 because we were on the come up and we wanted to make it sound as good as possible. But, if you wanna talk about measuring the success of that season as a whole, then go with the final ranking.

No you put down the 6th ranked finish all the time by saying 3 loss teams don’t usually finish that high and want to bring up past Miles years to complain and try and prove this 3 loss team wasn’t as good as a Miles 3 loss team

I have never seen this discussed or mentioned prior to O being our coach. It was never used to downplay wins under Miles is my point.

And I don't mean to totally derail the thread, but I absolutely hate preseason polls. It drives me crazy when they voters say they factor in the schedule into their ranking.

i would be in favor of doing away with human voting.
we need to bring computers back and have humand set an algorithm up and leave it alone and they pick the playoff teams. no more biased voting where blue bloods always get the benefit of the doubt, no more eye test bullshite. the most deserving teams get in.

I like the Herbstreit goes out of his way to beg voters not to be married to their preseason rankings and to adjust according to what they're seeing.

bullshite

i said this 3 loss season was better than 2015 because the final ranking and fiest bowl win.

ive literally never said 2015 was better than 2018.

ive correctly stated that 2015 offense was more productive than 2018.

which is a fact.

i cant help that you have a problem with facts i post.

You have probably referenced his win loss ranked record vs top 25, top 10 teams etc...I’m sure it’s info you got off LSU media guides...those records are recorded at the time teams play not the final polls. So you are admitting you’ve been linking stats you don’t believe are legit?

i always use final rankings unless its in the middle of the season.
i try to stay consistent.

Won vs defenses that averaged around 80 in total defense.

You seem to think this is pretty important.

2018 was bad against terrible defenses Rodger
2015 wasnt

i dont understand why you cant accept that fact. its hurts your soul to see it.

It should always be this way.

Some teams improve greatly, others never do. Some are just overrated.

Teams are generally rewarded more for how they're playing at the end of the season rather than the beginning.

It doesn’t upset me. I know each season is different and 2 losses one year might win a nation title and the following year maybe 4th

Pretty sure you have bitched about some of Miles 3 loss teams being better but I do t care enough to look

rodger why does it bother you that 2018 was good against 4 teams and 2015 was bad against 4 teams?

why do you take it has a personal slight when you see 2018 had 7 games under 400 yards?

do you think i care when you say Miles' offenses werent good enough?

literally never.

what ive asked was were you guys touting 2012?

we were the top ranked 3 loss team,
10 wins in the regular season, 3 losses by a combined 13 points(2 to teams that finished top 10)

it just so happens that was a year were the top ranked 3 loss team finished 12th

Nope. The 2015 team played some terrible defensive teams.

We weren't good vs UGA this year?

If they were good enough from 14-16, he would still be here.

I always want to finish the season as highest ranked team as possible. Even if the season was a disappointment finishing as high as possible helps with recruiting

“ Will be more valuable than our wins vs top 10 teams that finish unranked”

Yes

A postseason SOS is of more value than a preseason SOS. imo
