Man, Tech needs to get Champ some new frickin shorts! Those things were filthy, looked like he shat himself and they didn't come clean. Pretty embarrassing in my opinion.
Man, this is pretty damn petty. Champ was wearing white shorts & was sitting on the floor a lot. At least He/she ?? was interacting with both LSU & Tech fans @ everyone looked like they were having fun.
Where was Mike the Tiger mascot? The cheerleaders/dance team or even the damn hoop troop?!?! So disappointing that LSU didn’t bother at a great neutral site game.

In Shreveport/Bossier? Regardless of what the Rant says Shreveport/Bossier is located in Louisiana and is chock-full of LSU fans.
LSU has played in Shreveport before. And the SEC tournament in New Orleans. and I could cite other examples. And the turnout was pathetic.
This was different. I would say if we had played in that tourney in Niceville 2-3 years ago there would have been 200-300 fans. This year there were at least 1200.
I'm thinking your missing my point. I know there are LSU fans in Bossier Shreveport. But as with all LSU fans the support for hoops the last 30 years has been very lukewarm. I see the beginning of a change this year. I always thought it would be a fairly long process to change that culture - i see it's starting to take root now though.

However - for the trip to Niceville earlier this year and for this I was pleasantly surprised at both the number and the enthusiasm of LSU fans.
You're talking about shreveport where at least 80% of the populace are lsu fans
Eta- I see your point above. Simply stated, the enthusiasm will always be dependant on success. Especially with lsu fans

Not necessarily. Sustained success with a confidence that it will be maintained. Which takes a culture change. Which I think is what is happening now under WW.
We've have patches of success in hoops in the past 30 year and in the last 3 under WW but it never translated into fan support for hoops or enthusiasm unless we were playing Kentucky at home or 1 or 2 other outliers.
It's starting to now and this is an example

This is the first season in Wade's five years that I'm starting to see CONSISTENT fan support. Particularly from the students. God bless those kids who always showed up, but in previous years the student section looked like a spotty collection of kids from the island of misfit toys. Now, it is starting to look like student sections you see at other places (to some degree). Still, the configuration of the student section leaves a lot to be desired with only a very small portion close the court. But that is a topic of discussion for another day.
It's not just the students showing up though. Non-student fans are showing up as well. That is a testament to the consistency Wade has brought to the program. In years past LSU would have a great season with great support, only to immediately bottom out the next year and lose all of the momentum. While Wade has yet to win really big...he's not losing. Casual fans are taking note. Then, you couple that with football's struggles the past two seasons and you're starting to see fans desperate to cheer for a winner. The basketball team is capitalizing on that much like the baseball program did in the early 90's with the football program in a funk.
I'm expecting and looking forward to a rocking PMAC once SEC play starts next week. Especially in light of the fact the home opener is Kentucky. Homecourt advantage is often the biggest in college basketball where the action moves so fast. There are no brief pauses between every play or pitch like you have in football. Runs in basketball are often fueled by crowd energy. Here's to hoping that energy is there this season and that some folks from outside of the BR metro take the time to make it down for a game or two when they can

I agree with this and a step further, the energy that WW brings and the confidence that it can be maintained. This took into 5 years to build, but it's finally starting to...like is said that pre-season tourney in Niceville and this have been indicators that I can't remember for LSU in these types of settings since the 80's.

Yeah, I would note even say the support was season long. If we were having a good year, but the end of the season you would start seeing decent crowds but even then it didn't seem like it was back in the 80's or even really close.
I think we're building something in that mold now.
