ESPN reported that there were no questions at that point. It was his opening statement at the press conference. He was probably mounting a pre-emptive strike for anyone even thinking about asking that question. Instant Classic Miles.

I still think I'd put Gundy's press conference over Miles' but Les still impressed the hell out of me right there.

How can people not love Coach Miles?

You can see why his players love him. He is right about how our guys hung together to win that game because at times it seemed the upset was destiny. I hope everyone is proud of this group of Seniors because they had a great career at LSU. As to Russell Shepard, he is going to be a great ambassador for LSU for years to come. I believe he could turn into a Virgil in our Athletic Dept.

meh, not so much, Gundy's seemed a bit contrived, and almost 7th grade-ish, Miles is a savant when you put a mike in front of him

And you - or anyone else - please feel free to attack the facts contained in my post. Please... go ahead.

You keep enjoying random rants from Les Miles and convincing yourself that this nuttiness is what builds champions.

Bama fans will continue to enjoy their dour little man who offers up boring press conferences.

Here's the truth, Dallas.

There is only one Saban, and he is at Bama. He's a great coach, but he's not here.

But the guy we have is so close to Nickie in his RESULTS, there is hardly any difference. And when it comes to personality and class, our coach is superior hands down, no contest.

If LSU's defense had made just one big play during just one minute of football, the whole Miles-Saban comparison would look quite different today.

Had we stopped that last-minute drive in the Bama game, LSU would be BCS #2 tonight and in control of our own destiny to play for the crystal in Miami, Les would be 4-3 against Lord Nickie, and their respective winning percentages in their current positions would be essentially the same.

So quit crying that Les isn't Saban. Saban has it going right now, and he might win a third crystal for Bama this year. But the difference in results betweeen Saban and Miles is miniscule, and with one stop by our defense, Les would have a chance for his second crystal in Miami which would tie Saban's two at Bama, and Miles would have the edge on Saban head to head.

My guess is, when both careers are over, Miles will likely be right there in every category with Saban, including accumulated crystal footballs, but we'll have had the better man (and the far more entertaining personality) at LSU, for all those seasons we are lucky enough to keep Les Miles as our damn strong Head Football Coach.

And even if we could trade Les right now for Nick, for the next 5 seasons, I'd gladly stick with the Mad Hatter, and that decision isn't even a close one for me.

Next year, Les just might even up their head-to-head record and collect his second crystal at LSU. Who knows?

I'm pretty damn happy with our program. We're always in the mix, stay out of trouble with the NCAA(for the most part,) have a great graduation rate, always on TV, win 10-11 games a year...and on and on. The kids love Les, and would go to war for him, they all come back/give back to the school when they can. What's not to like? It's unrealistic to think that we will win the NC every year, and frankly that would get a little boring. Even Nicky said it's more fun to build a dynasty than it is to sustain it. I've been around long enough to remember when we would have killed for 75% of the success we have now.

Les Miles is a GREAT asset to LSU and he is devoted to his team... And they know it and they love him.... Most of you youngsters didn't live thru the Dinardo/Hallman, etc., eras.... We have it pretty good right now... This winning thing is alot of FUN !!!!

This video will get LOTS of airtime..... it is great for recruits!!!!!!

I LOVE ME SOME LES MILES !!!!!!!!!!!!

Les was asked if Russell Shepard was considered a flop after the game. The question is inappropriate and Les had every right to get pissed and rip the entertainers and defend the players.

Exactly. Must have been a rantard asking...

Do we know the reporter who said it?

Scott Rabalais wrote an article in the Advocate entitled "Passing on Glory" Dont know if that was the specific article but I thought it was pretty trashy piece for Senior Week at LSU.

Dallas, we've been around this board for a long time. Seldom have I seen nycajun critical of another poster.

He's lending very wise advice. You should at least consider accepting it, and saying "thank you."

You are like Obama, infatuated with the previous administration. If you are tied more to the coach than the program, I can easily change your screen name to "Dallas Tider". It isn't taken.

I agree regarding this game, but your generalization is not correct. Miles is one of the few coaches who DOES get his teams up for the average teams. That's why he has such an enviable OOC record.

'nother thing - as the year wears on offenses get better. Teams that were weak all year suddenly find an offensive personality. This year's LSU team is a great example. So is Ole Miss. Had they played offense like that all year they'd already be bowl eligible.

DallasTiger, GFY... you are an insult to the whole DFW area.

That being said, I should've known that the Ole Miss game would've been like that. Ole Miss always comes to play us. Let's give them credit, they lit up our secondary, props to them.

But let's not also forget that when it counted, our D made some major stops, energy ignited by OBJ's punt return.

People are always going to compare Nick and Les, because they are in the same conference, same division, and have similar careers. I wouldn't trade Les for any coach in the nation, say what you want about him, he knows what he's doing.

It is easy to sit back and play Monday quarterback, and say what play calls you would make. But he's putting his arse on the line every week, and we get wins.

I have no idea how people still want this man to head to the gallows with a record of 84-20 (keep in mind 5 losses were in one season, '08).

And that hyper critical, dour gentleman has his team positioned to play for a third national championship in the past four years. Come to Bama and compete yearly for a national championship playing for a top-notch head coach while getting great invididual coaching that allows you to improve your chances to make the NFL. Or... Come to LSU and compete yearly for a national championship until your "loveable" head coach, Jibberish McJabberwocky, becomes... well, Jibberish McJabberwocky and coaches you down to a spot somewhere below Bama.

Exactly! What recruit wouldn't want to play for a coach that fights for you. Miles would actually put you ON the bus, not throw you under it like...ahem, NM.

Purple passion you have a way with words. It gets so tiresome reading these CLM haters. Has got to suck being them. I have actually argued face to face with some if them and I got of Yeah buts when I bring up trivial crap like records, record against saban, etc. According to them the team has been on the verge of mediocrity since 2005 due to Miles. I sincerely wish they would become bama fans as miles can do nothing to please them. Then they can go to the bama rant. Thanks!
