The idea that the RPO offensive spread schemes are something Pelini hasn't seen or prepared is BS. There are plenty of teams in the FCS that run this type of offense. James Madison defeated Pelini's team 28-14 for the Championship in 2016 running the offense. He will have much better athletes to work with again here at LSU.

End of the day it all comes down to getting pressure with 4

If you can do that you can stop any offense

Good thing our DL should be a major strength this year.

People are acting like Pelini is some dumb shite that coached when players wore leather helmets.

This is one of the more brilliant defensive minds in organized football. He proved that for 5 straight seasons.

Feels more like a transition year for me.

Lots of question marks outside Shelvin and the. They’re is the question mark of where Shelvin fits into a 4-3.

There are a lot of teams who "attempt" watered down versions of it. But those are FCS players for a reason.

LSU didn't have the year they had just because of the system. It was how the system utilized our tremendous talent and depth. You couldn't go into a game and say "we're going to double this guy and make someone else beat us".

Preparing against far better competition is going to be a major test for this guy, who really hasn't had to do so in a long time. I am hopeful. But we'll just have to see.

Our defense will be historically good next year with the athletes we have.. Think about it nobody will have film on our D. It’ll be just like the offense was this year.. Every week it’ll be something new that we can throw at you .. This is the defense O wanted the whole time.. Aranda was just too good at what he did to switch to a 4-3...Pelini will have our defense playing lights out Just by bringing a new attitude and intensity .. O wants a defense that’s beats the hell out of you for 4quarters.. Something like the Old Bama defense under Saban

It's much easier when you have the talent to work with. A Derek Stingley, an Elias Ricks, a Jacobian Guillory, Roy, Sampah, Webb, etc.

Bo will be able to call risky defenses like a cover 1 and blitzes relying on Stingley and our other corners. Our D Line is looking great too. He’s got plenty of athletes to work with.

Well no shite. I'm sure everybody knew that, didn't they? I mean it's still football of course they run it. No different then any fbs conference teams. Some teams in a conference run spread with some rpo concepts, some run triple option, air raid, and others run pro style.

I don't think this place is that uneducated or lacks that much common sense

Scheme is scheme. He was coaching against FCS players with FCS players.

Do you think Brady will be able to coach pro players?

You don't think he ever played and game planned against teams that were better then Youngstown was?

You must not be seeing the posts questioning Pelini's ability to coach against these newer RPO offenses. The same dumbarses that were against the Coach O hire.

And people can say what they want about Aranda’s system

When he rushed 4 and dropped our LBs into coverage I am Prettier sure he expected the DL to pass rush, not eat blocks for guys who are dropping into coverage.

My only issue with Pelini is our personnel. As skilled as we are, our players have not been recruited to run his style of defense. I do think he will adjust........and long term it will be a great hire. Just a little worried about positioning his first season.

There is one main concern about his defenses, and its have they adapted to modern offenses the last 5-7 years. No proof that they have yet. But thats really the main thing

we would probably want them to slim down if we go 4-3. They're both quick enough to play 4-3 but still need to lighten up some.
