It was Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. It was a nationally televised game. It was against a division rival in a series that has produced some of the greatest moments in LSU history. The weather was perfect — low 60s, crisp with no chance of rain. It was a great night to be alive.

And the Stadium was not even half full 45 minutes before kickoff. There was little buzz. Fans, who had been complaing for two weeks about the most talented bad offense in the nation, lined up in a "Show me" stance.

LSU played that great mixed version of "Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting" by Elton John and Nickelback, but it did note create the fever rush that it did moments before LSU and Florida kicked off two weeks ago. Neither did Garth Brooks' "Callin' Baton Rouge," that got quarterback Tim Tebow so revved up.

Tiger Stadium did fill up by kickoff, but for a crowd of 92,654, it was dead.

Can't really disagree with him. The rest of the article isn't bad.

How so?

The atmosphere wasn't intense. And as soon as half the fans got what they had been calling for, they left.

Usually I do not agee with him, but don't think this piece is that far from the truth.

And he actually says we can beat Bama, which surprised the hell out of me.

We were in a show me mood. We got embarassed on CBS by scoring 3 against UF. We needed to see if we actually could use our players to their potential.

And.... Auburn isn't as big a game now that Tubby's gone.

This is unfortunate. I loved the rivalry.

non-student "fans" were leaving with 2 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. Unbelievable.

Auburn had lost two straight...LSU had just lost, and then had a bye week, and was sporting the 112th ranked offense.

Plus, we don't dislike Chizik...yet. He isn't one of those polarizing coaches like Tuberville, Nutt, Meyers, etc...so you didn't have the built-in animosity.

feelings of entitlement for one thing, also Bama fans historically are known for sitting on their hands when things aren't going well. although they do get fired up after that old dead dude mumbles some shite about Alabama football over the PA before the game.

Negatigers' work will not be complete until Tiger Stadium becomes the most opponent friendly venue in football. You are seeing the fruits of their labor becoming reality.

so we're becoming a fanbase that has conditional passion? I will say without Tuberville, the game didn't have the same feel.

God I hate Guilbeau. Can't we just enjoy a victory for once? Stop looking for something to complain about every god damn week. Maybe the fans were in a show me mood. Who cares? I feel like the players were "I'll show you" mood. Are the fans so wrong for wanting to see more out of the offense? And guess what, we did see more. Great job to the tigers for playing their best game of the season. GTFO Guilbeau.

Tiger Stadium has become just like every other school in the country with fans leaving and not getting into the game. The days of the stadium being a big advantage ended several years ago.

I have got to agree. Driving in to campus at 2:30 and encountered little traffic. From Lee to parking lot A in like 5 minutes. Leaving was even faster! No energy or electricity. I am glad the team brought some intensity because the crowd was a big fat zero.

Oh really? I guess you didn't go to 07 Florida, 07 Auburn, 08 Bama, or 09 Florida. Fans did all they could in each of those games.

and instead of staying around to show our appreciation, we got the hell out of there in time to beat the traffic home

not all that long ago. The crowd used to get up for every game. Not just BCS top 5

surely you don't believe that our fan base is dumb enough to be brainwashed like that. hell, the louisianian's i know, which is quite a few, are some of the most independent minded folks around. plus, i bet the majority of our fan base never has even looked on this board, and those that do probably aren't regulars. i do see your point though, the negatigers piss me off, esp. their loudmouth insistence in having things their way.
