I went to the Ole Miss game a few years back with my ex-father in law and the game was complete boring misery. He left at halftime because LSU looked sloppy and pitiful against an Ole Miss team that wasn't very good. I stayed, but realized how much more I enjoyed watching the game at home.

Which game was this? 2008?

2014 - beat a top 5 ole miss team
2012 - fun game, won 41 - 35
2010 - another fun game, won 45-36

Games are still selling out, people just leave early, it was full at gametime.

Traffic

I agree traffic plays a part in it, but it's also justifying spending time in said traffic if the experience was worth it.

Last year, my girlfriend got a ticket to the Arkansas game from a client of hers. She felt so guilty I didn't have a ticket, but she also wanted to go. I told her to not worry about it and have fun. I was more content to stay home and watch what I figured would be a miserable game.

Sure enough, LSU looked terrible and got whooped 31-14.

Yeah, I know we can't win them all, but we weren't even competitive. As I watched the game, all I could do was feel sorry for those who spent hours tailgating and then sitting in traffic...for that.

This is such fricking bullshite. Just last season LSU was waxing and running over people at home. Yeah they stumbled against Arkansas but that happened under saban as well, and those friday games were always the least attended sec home games.

The results on the field have been better than any coach in recent memory and I'm not old enough for the dietzal era. So for the majority of the fans, this is the best football they had seen from LSU.

The ole Miss game 2 years ago was rocking. Why? It was a close game. You could play perfect football and destroy a team like auburn, the stadium would still empty.

Come on Zombie. You're better than this.

Never has such a well written post been so wrong. The short version is "CLM has lost control of the people in the stands (after he was fired.)"

That's what you just said.

Nah. Plenty of blame to go to Les on the football end of things, but honestly, people leaving early is more of a function of today's society and technology and how ridiculously longs games are. People don't have the attention spans they used to, watching a game on TV in the comfort of your own home is in many ways better when it isn't a premier game, and the games are so damn long.

Wrong. Go check out a Texas game. That place is rocking from start to finish. Same with Auburn.

It wasn't that fun of a game. LSU was top 10 team. Ole Miss was unranked and terrible.

Halftime was 21-17 Ole Miss and LSU looked like shite. Took a huge 4th quarter for us to beat a crap opponent, and while Ole Miss is a rival, they were really bad that year.

There is some truth to this, maybe not the whole reason people are leaving but it plays into it. Last couple of years I've been struggling to finish watching the games on TV, its was just frustrating and boring.

Losing 3-4 conference games a year isn't that great

Very unfortunate for them

I mean, I'm sure there are exceptions. I can't speak for how UT games are and I haven't been to an Auburn game since '10 when they were undefeated. But my statement is definitely the general rule.

I believe that years of boring and frustrating football has taken its toll on the fanbase, and as a result they mass exodus of fans has occurred.

Exactly this. I was on the verge of not even watching on TV anymore after the Auburn game until Miles was gone. It was a frustrating waste of time.

I know a lot of people, especially with kids, who leave at half. By half of a night game, it's usually 8:30-9 and the kids have been ready to go since the end of the first quarter. By the time they make it to the car, drive in the terrible traffic home, eat, and get kids ready for bed, it's close to midnight. I can't blame parents for doing that.

Now the old codgers who sit in the gold seats and the students...they deserve plenty of blame.

For every home game this season there have been gobs of open seats in the gold section, with people who never even show up

bullshite.

Look at Florida vs Mizzou this weekend. Place was empty in the 4th qtr.

This is NOT just an LSU issue.
