Naw, I think he is just reaffirming his process and confidence.
It is a bit like a golf shot in that surrounding trees, tee box alignment, fairway direction and pin placement can sometimes act as optical illusions and cause a shot in the wrong direction.
He is making sure none of the optical illusions in the viewing of the goal posts affects his aim
