I said at the beginning of the week if he can't break out of his slump he should be benched for a little bit and I think it's fair enough to say if he doesn't have a nice 2+ hit game today that should be done.

It's funny because I never thought I would say this but he has turned into an offensive black hole. I hope he breaks out of it today though. Would be just weird seeing him riding the pine for a little bit because he isn't performing.

He is hitting .225 on the year now after his 0 for 5 game yesterday.

ill give him another week just because the potential if he does break out of his slump

Personally I think 22 games is way more than enough. I can't take another week where he'll likely popout 15 times only to drop his average below .200.

You can plug in just about anyone to get better production right now.

I'd like to see McGhee take over his spot while he is on the bench (if he gets there). McGhee has been solid this year. Hitting .308 with 4 doubles in 26 AB.

I think extended time batting 7th or 8th in the order may help. Would try it before benching, but LSU has got to do something. Hitting overall is tanking.

i absolutely agree...the guy was a stud last year. and i'm not buying the idea that the loss of matt clark batting behind him is the main reason for this slump. we still have hitters in the lineup, he needs to sit and take some time to refocus.

Yesterday they picked it up really well. Today they face a terrible pitcher.

What he needs to do is go watch some film of what he was doing last year that made him so successful....like hitting to all parts of the park...not trying to pull everything to right field for a Homer.

So ya..riding the pine for a game or two with a laptop watching video from last year might be good...

Dean needs to stop swinging for the fences or he'll become the record holder at LSU for popouts and foulouts.

i agree

we arent early on in the season anymore, we're in the 2nd week of SEC play

a BA just above the mendoza line isnt going to cut it for dean, or any LSU starter really

I totally agree with you Tbird. He was a monster bat for us last season, but that was last season. If he can't break out of the slump on his own, PM should bench him. PM could play him half the game on midweek games until he breaks the slump. Why punish the whole team, just because he was a hero last season in the streak?

What have you done for me lately, but I still think he will come around. Coaching is what's needed here. Meaning what to do with him now!

I wouldn't bench Dean. I may move him around in the lineup to try and jumpstart him. But, even then I probably wouldn't even do that.

Dean has gone through slumps here before. He'll battle out of it. We don't have anyone on the bench who can come in and give us definite production. You'd basically have to replace him in the lineup with a freshman.
