I listened to the entire press conference he only said John Emery is a guy that could use these bowl practices and is looking at his “peak”

Williams and Cain would probably be 2nd-3rd string on most LSU teams. Weakest group of LSU RBs in memory.

Agreed. Not a knock on either but both should be complimentary guys not hitting the starting lineup. RB is a big need right now. it would've been exposed as much worse if you didn't have JD shredding defenses in zone reads.

I think Goodwin can be a really good one but he can't stay healthy. He's been injured every year since HS.

A healthy Armoni Goodwin is hands down the best back on this team. Heard rumors that Auburn been trying to poach him from us. Hope it's not true tho.

He would be a tremendous asset if he could have a healthy offseason and no grade distractions

way things went this season he’ll definitely be behind Williams and probably Cain as well. With Trey Holly and Kaleb Jackson

Emery is not behind cain.

Goodwin and Emery both have the talent to be lead backs. They’ve just never shown the consistency due to injuries for one and just not keeping shite together mentally and academically for the other. We definitely need one of the freshmen to step up and if a can’t miss guy hits the portal, I hope the staff jumps on them. A dynamic run game outside of the QB will do more to help this offense than anything else.

He fumbles and whiffs in pass pro too much, but if he gets better in both areas he’s a very good SEC back.

You think he all of a sudden is just going to get better in those areas after 5 years?

I was really hoping for a Scott or Ridley type emergence from him this season, but he had every opportunity and didn’t do it. I don’t see how we could count on him for anything more than depth and a role catching out of the backfield occasionally next season.

Yes. People can improve throughout their lives and careers. That includes football players. That's why they continue practicing. I've seen several posts on different players that they can't improve, and I just don't buy it.

Oh i agree players can improve but emery has shown almost zero improvement in pass pro and ball security through 5 yrs.

He has always struggled being in the right spots. Why do you think he struggles to get snaps?

Worth ethic and attitude is his problem. Remember he's the same guy who laughed at his team as they were getting their arse handed to them in a game. Says all you need to know there about his attitude.

I think if Stephen Sullivan can get drafted, Emery should be able to go in the 7th round.

The point isn’t whether it’s possible that Emery can improve. It’s whether we can depend on that happening. The staff depended on one of him or Goodwyn emerging this season and ended up with a 2 star former walk-on (who I respect the hell out of) as our most consistent and productive back. That CANNOT happen again next season. It has to be addressed.

That already started on ESD, but may continue with a new RB from the portal and Emery leaving to have a bigger role somewhere else.

That's basically was i just said.

He hasn't improved enough in 5 yrs.

Doesn't sound like kelly is processing him for another running back.

Sounds like it will be the same rotation next yr as of now.
