Could this transpire?
Is it odd for him to leave Urban Meyer after having coached with him since 2001 at Bowling Green for basically the same job?
Am I the only one that has a hard time understanding this?

Rivals is reporting
Gonzales will work with offensive coordinator Gary Crowton in developing strategies for LSU's passing attack.
Sounds like co-coordinators to me.

its not co co coordinator, its a quality way to get a very capable wr's coach who wants to leave from Meyers shadow, mad because he was passed as oc last year and get a raise in the process

Could that hurt the offense at this point? I think anything will be an improvement over this year

Not much further to fall to hit the bottom, so I guess point taken.
I just prefer for one person to be in charge. It puts the responsibility for performance on one person. I think we have already seen what happens with Co-coordinators.

per a gator fan on another board
"Take this with a grain of salt, but Pat Dooley is reporting on Gainesville radio that he's hearing that Gonzales was aware of the party the players attended the Monday before the SEC Championship Game (Steven Wilks' 21st) and did nothing about it. He subtly hinted that Gonzales was told to find another job because Meyer was none too pleased.
I'm not sure how much I'd put into this, but Dooley is a reliable source 95% of the time. It really wouldn't concern me as an LSU fan - Gonzo is still a heck of a coach and recruiter. Still, it's really troubling for Florida, especially given the fact that we lost arguably our best remaining recruiter and one of our better coaches."

I don't think that its too far fetched to say that Miles may be the best couch to work for in 1A

the only way i dont sort of buy into it is
with the extra title of "passing coordinator" comes significantly more $$$ or some sort of OC promise
otherwise i just dont see much of an explanation

Just heard the same story on the radio in Jacksonville. I missed who was reporting it however the radio guys (Gator Homers) thought it made sense because as they said "Why the hell else would Gonzales want to go to LSU?" What makes sense to me is that Gonzales was not happy being passed over for OC and he and UM might have been butting heads. Maybe not reporting the party was his way of getting back at Meyer and his arrogance. In the same conversation they mentioned some FL recruit that turned to LSU. I dont know who they were talking about unless they were refering to Peterson two years ago.

At a minimum, this is all very interesting...
If Crowton is staying, then this is all just regular changes in personnel, albeit good hires.
However, if the plan is for Crowton to leave, I have a hard time understanding these hires if Miles is only going to replace Crowton in a few weeks. Would they know that a new boss is on the way? or do they get a surprise in a few weeks?
I guess we will know soon.
In the meantime, 2 weeks ago the Gators were in a whole different place than they are now. Kinda puts a new perspective on where the Tigers are as well.

I do not think that he will have the say in the play to be called, I believe that he is to assist in the looking into what call should be made. But, Crowton will make the call it is just another set of eyes on the field to make sure that the correct call is being made at any given time. To me, I think any time that you have two sets of eyes looking into the defenses on the field another set of eyes will be a more than welcome addition.
To other statement that it might be just a matter of time and he might be the next OC that might justify him leaving UM to come to LSU. You also know that with the added responsibility of helping on the play calling will also come more money for him. To me, I am glad we have no matter the reason. With Gonzales's recruiting prowess in Florida and Wilson's here in Louisiana we should be a whole lot better off than before they came. I'll take these changes any day over what we had before.
I do not in any way associate this with
co-coordinators of the defense last year. Two sets of eyes looking is better than one any day. JMHO!
