In my experience, most of Houston bars are expensive on mixed drinks, but at least Christian's have decent pours. Bar help is smart and will accommodate once they realize you are respectful and will tip well.
Fwiw, I live a mile down the street and it is my go to for sports watching. A typical Saints game will set me back $60 after tip. And I typically drink Beam for the duration. Doubles around $8-9.

Sounds like big Woodrow's has a project ahead of them to redesign the upstairs room which, last I saw it, was top to bottom inside and out full of LSU stuff.

Well hell, that's where we (about 14) were thinking about going. My cousin that lives there says it's the place to go for LSU.
IDK, plenty of beer, TVs, food (I'm far from a connoisseur) and with it being right off the 610 loop makes it a convenient trip over to the stadium. Will look around and see if anything/anywhere sounds better

I like Big Woodrow's but I would agree it's a bad spot, especially in August

What about Little Woodrow's? Badass turtle races on Thursday nights...

This is what I don't get about some of our fans. People clamering for cheap abita pitchers. Why not try some good beers not available in LA, and listen to local music on road trips, instead of Travis Matte and the Chee wees
Because Abita is my gameday beer and it's one of my favorites. Because a lot of the microbrews in Texas are available in Lake Charles (where I'm from) so I've had them before. And because I'm an avid Texas Country/Red Dirt music fan, so I'm already aware that none of the bands I'd want to see (Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue, The Damn Quails, Josh Abbott, Reckless Kelly, etc.) will be in Houston on that particular weekend.
Since I can't tailgate in true fashion, I'd rather sit in an air conditioned place, watch football and drink cheap delicious Abita. And I don't think there's a damn thing wrong with that.

Little woodrows in rice village

I will say this, I was a regular at Woodrows for years, and the place has gone downhill bad...I wouldn't think it is the place to go anymore...5 years ago, it was legit, biggest LSU party in Houston...I went last year once and their was barely any LSU fans left....just sad...
I haven't been to Christians Tailgate, but will prob be checking it out sometime this year...

The OP is correct.
Big Woodrow's has gone to shite the last 2-3 years and they aren't accommodating to LSU fans. Don't waste your time and money at that shite hole.

FYI...the new LSU ALumni watch parties are going to be at Christian's Tailgate in the Heights this season!

If Christian's gets packed Little Woodrow's heights is right there. And to make it more confusing there is a LW on Shepard.

I was at Woodrow's for the TCU game last year. My only complaint about it was how hot it was upstairs before the sun went down.

Yea, I just don't get people from out of town arguing with Tiger fans and alumna in Houston about a place being a shithole. If a place is run bad all year, it will be run bad on Saturday as well....I don't care who will be there or what station they PAID to advertise...
$8 Abita or whatever? What is it, 10 somewhere else...congrats on saving $2 to go to a shite bar that alumni are telling you has failed LSU. They are trying to take us for a one day hit when the places downtown have to have their A game all year.
