James Rosen is a true freshman starting QB at UCLA. Youth is not a good excuse for talented QBs that are coached properly.

Malik Zaire was a FROSH last year.

Cardale Jones was a SOPH.

Seems like a lot of FROSH/SOPH have done pretty well recently at schools with programs on-par (some better, some worse) than LSU.

How about our coaching staff worry about developing college quarterbacks?
What the hell do you think Cam is trying to do with Harris? Harris is being developed to run LSU's style of offense, which is more multiple than the spread shite you see with 95% of college teams.

You're right. No wonder Mett beat out Mariota for the starting spot

That wasn't an open competition

Mett could've been Joe Montana V2 and still been the backup.

Pro-style offense vs spread offense.

100 percent this...pro style takes a lot of time to master...spread offense is a fast attack with quick reads and a small route tree...go look up Shanahan's comment about the spread offense in college and why RG3 hasn't been panning out like expected.

You've named 3 starters out of over 100 D1 teams

It seems like a lot because you are cherry picking examples and ignoring the majority based on small sample sizes

Remember when Christian Hackenberg was a 1st round lock as a freshman?

I'm in the camp that wants to find out. I'm in the camp that does not endorse "only a SOPH", "needs to be protected."

I know he can hand-off well ... I want to see what the kid can do slingin' it.

That TD negated by penalty was fricking awesome....be nice to see that tried a few more times.

Do you even understand spread offense vs multiple formation, pro-style offense?

Outside of Boyd's junior and senior years, you think he, Parker, and Harper were all-timers in college?

Other than Boyd, both Parker and Harper got worse under Dabo. Does that scream development to you?

Cam is doing his job. I'm not saying he isn't. I think Harris looks good.

I just don't see what the fuss is all about. Clemson has a better track recor of developing better college quarterbacks than we do.

Is that always going to be the case? Probably not, but that doesn't change where we are right now.

I think it's hilarious that this board is getting so upset over something so blatantly obvious.

I think most people that are in the camp were "only 2nd start, on the road, SEC game, we all saw what happened last time in the same circumstances"

Sorry if I am comparing LSU's QBs to other major schools and not including the Wake Forests and New Mexico States of the college landscape.

Changing the argument are we? All-timers? I thought we were comparing two programs.

You can't possibly be this dense

So now there's another talking point - whether QBs play "under center" or not.

Please, all you excuse makers, just list out your talking points for why our QBs don't produce more. I'll start you off:

1. Youth
2. Inexperience
3. First (or second) start
4. On the road
5. Plays under center
6. ???
7. ???
8. ???
9. ???
10. ???

I don't need to change the subject. Parker was good and got worse when Dabo took over and Harper wasn't good. They aren't developing people over there. Look at the stats before you spout off ignorantly. I'll give you Tajh, but he is the only one who got better. That's about like what LSU does. One out of three.

List the schools that run a pro-style offense besides LSU?

Stanford
Arky
Bama
Michigan
???

Yes, I do.

Do you understand what "DUAL THREAT" means?

Both Watson and Harris were listed and recruited as Dual Threats.

Dual Threat does not mean hand-off/toss or keep it and run.

What does this have to do with the type of offense that is deployed by each school?

I was specifically trying to compare Clemson/LSU and Watson/Harris.

The guys could almost be twins.

To date ... as both a FROSH/SOPH, one guy has gotten way more dual threat production.

I happen to think that Harris is more than capable of doing a lot more than he is being allowed to do.

In order to learn from mistakes, you actually have to make some.

The kid is ready. To borrow a phrase from Biden: "UNCHAIN HARRIS!"
