This is the point I keep trying to make. Why do people fail to realize LSU isn't recruiting scrubs? You think SB has better resources? No. They develop their talent. LSU isn't. That simple. frick Javi. And even if you want to say LSU isn't evaluating talent or recruiting the right kids, that's on Javi too. So frick him again.

No, THIS guy:
Joe Pennucci
Joe Pennucci recently completed his fifth season as an assistant coach on Matt Senk's staff and serves as the team's recruiting coordinator. Pennucci also works with the hitters and is responsible for overall team defense, working individually with the infielders and catchers.
Under Pennucci's guidance, the 2011 Seawolves ranked first in the country in doubles per game (2.7), ninth in batting average (.316) and 11th in scoring (7.2 runs per game). Carmona and Travis Jankowski also finished the season, first and second, respectively, in the America East in batting average.
Pennucci has also shown that he is among the best defensive coaches in the country as the Seawolves led the country with a .985 fielding percentage in 2011. The Seawolves shined defensively in 2010 as well, ranking 30th in the country with a .973 fielding percentage.
As the recruiting coordinator, Pennucci has helped attract student-athletes of the highest athletic and academic caliber to Long Island. In the five classes that Pennucci has assembled, he has recruited some of the top players from the Northeast region, as well as Canada, California, and Florida.

That pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.

Best thing to happen today -> PM realizes he needs a new hitting coach quote: The story line is that we have shitty talent. Wrong. Sorry, but coming out of high school, the kids at LSU were much more highly recruited than the current players on the Stony Brook roster. Difference: they were COACHED. That was probably the best hitting college team that I have ever seen and, aside from the 3rd baseman, they were phenomenal defensively as well. That defense, paired with extremely poor discipline at the plate for LSU, made a mediocre pitcher look outstanding tonight. We need a good hitting coach. Period.
Are you so ignorant that you think thats what I'm saying in my post?
The point was that that is what the Mainieri/Sanchez apologist have said and will continue to say.
Get a clue and learn how to read.

I hear our softball coach has applied.

I think it's more a case of Raph being so good even Javi couldn't frick him up.

Paul does not care. Changes will not be made. It is embarrassing how this weekend unfolded. Major choke job.

Are you so sensitive that you get your panties in a wad over stuff you read on the Rant. Seriously, lighten up.
FWIW, so many "fans" do feel this way (about LSU's talent) that I jumped on it and, yes, I skimmed the post and didn't fully catch the context of your statement. My apologies.
Considering the fact that it looks like we agree on the talent development situation at LSU and the need for a new hitting coach, why we don't all just get along!

He's not going anywhere unless Paul does.
I was beginning to think that same thing after the Braves 40-days of hell at the end of 2011 and Fredi Gonzalez protecting his crappy hitting hitting coach and proclaiming to the media the guy was coming back and low and behold the GM set the situation back on track firing Larry Parish and hired Greg Walker and an assistant. Odder shite has happened. Anyone that truly believes Javi has had great hitting talent to work with the past two years isn't viewing reality, but the status quo approach at the plate has been unyielding and unproductive in too many meaningful games the last two years. Hopefully the incoming class has a lot more upside at the plate and talent in the outfield. Then one has to find a legit SS, too.

Y'all are crazy. He's not firing Javi. The only way he goes somewhere is if he gets a better job, then Will gets Javi's job and Ross gets Will's job. It's nothing but former players and buddies on his staff.

He needs to do a MUCH Better job evaluating and recruiting guys who can hit. Yall are putting way to much emphasis on the coach and way too little on the recruiting.

Frankly, I wonder about PM.
he was in the dogout, showing no energy, and what seemed completely uninvolved.
and yes we need a hitting coach..averaging .147 for the series w S Brook is unacceptable.
I also saw where the FIRST pitch to every batter was straight down the middle for a strike in game 2 and each of our players ignored it....a coach would have noticed and acted. This placed each of our players behind in the count each and every time.
Horrible coaching...all around.

I was sitting by the SB bullpen last night. I hollered to one of the SB players "Your hitting coach is going to be coaching here next year!". He looks over at me and says we don't have a hitting coach!

Hire Stony Brook's hitting coach. (if you cant beat 'em, hire 'em!)
Seriously... 7 of thier 9 starters hit over .300, and the 8th is .299 (might as well be .300)
Their at-bats are extremely impressive for a college team... They really know how to be patient and work pitchers.
EDIT: so. i guess if we want to be as good as SB, we shouldnt have a hitting coach either.

Well, the SBU hitting/fielding coach is also the recruiting coordinator. Fix all three with one hire.
Next year's team has more than enough talent. With improved plate discipline, they could be special.

This is what I've been saying. It's not the coaching its the talent. If u want to be mad at someone then be mad at the recruiter for field positions the last few yrs.

PM doesn't realize shite. He actually thinks he did a good job and feels good about the season. If he fires anybody, it'll be the pitching coach, simply because he's making the rest of the staff look bad by actually doing his job.
