It’s similar to tiger stadium several private yards to park in!

It cleared up once we got to the highway. Just took over 4 hours to get out of the parking lot and to the on ramp.

This map is a few years old, but it's where I've parked on the street or in a yard for at least 20 games in Tuscaloosa.

Getting out fairly quickly has never been a problem.

Post-game traffic in that city is the worst of any sporting event I've ever been to (including in the more congested areas around NRG, Jerryworld, Lambeau, Super Dome, etc.). Went to GOTC Part I a few years ago. We parked almost a mile from the stadium and it still took over 5 hours to get from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham after the game.
I'd argue the opposite. Tuscaloosa's traffic situation is really good for a college town. As long as you're not going back to Birmingham right after the game, you'll be able to drive anywhere relatively easily. If you're going back towards Louisiana it is extremely easy to get on the interstate.

It is very easy to get out after the game. 2 years ago we parked at Central High School and took us less than 10 minutes to get to the interstate.

Thanks a ton to all who have replied!

Can someone tell me how early I need to arrive to be sure there is room in the church or the Central High school parking lots?

Also, is there any place to eat in the area or will I need to eat on the way in?

If you get there early enough there is a parking lot behind the Arby's on University Blvd that's a pretty good spot. Boy Scouts usually charge between $5-20 depending on the game.
That leaves a bit of a walk to the stadium but you pass by the Bryant Museum, the Quad and the Alabama Museum of Natural History on the way, all of which I would suggest making a stop at.

The parking spot itself is pretty close to HWY 82 so you won't have to fight as much traffic when leaving.

we live in the area and park in someone's backyard for $20, across the street from the high school. we usually try to get there an hour and half before game time and there's plenty of room it seems by that point.

We parked at the high school near the stadium two years ago. Tailgated there and got out of the area really quickly after the game. I think it was $20 to park at the school.

This is a good map here.

If you take a look at the streets East of Queen City Avenue, West of 12th Ave, South of Paul Bryant Dr, and North of Dearing Pl (a perfect square grid) this is where I am always able to find a spot by the curb, etc.

Have fun in Tuscaloosa
