Yep. And I think Brian was a TE.

Rogee Mcgee was the receiver in1987. He scored the TD against Ohio St in 87.

I remember Moss as being more of a kick return specialist and occasional third receiver.
The main WR duo out of the standard I-pro formation was definitely Davis & McGee.

He was, but still part of the receiving corp. My brain skipped the idea that we were talking just about the best WR group. My posts all included TE'S.

'95 beats '03 when you consider what the players actually did in the NFL. There are 6 players we listed from '95 that played TEN years in the league. That's ridiculous
This is why I would argue that Hallman left the program in better shape than Archer. He wasn't worth and damn, but Archer ruined LSU recruiting and lead to the fall.
PS I know some of the 95 guys came in Dinardo's first year, but overall it was a majority of Hallman's recruits.

I always argue the same thing, but many posters are somehow devoted to the idea that Archer recruited well, but had his players ruined by Curley.
I really think that there is a lot of irrational blame of Hudson Hallman by LSU fans, simply by virtue of the fact that he was really really dumb and backwards. Nonetheless, he did seem to up the program a notch from what he inherited.

It's just something I threw together back in 2008 and sort of updated on an ad hoc basis. People have caught mistakes in it before, so don't treat it as official or anything.

Wade Richey
It's hard to compare some of the corps with the differences in qb's, offenses, etc. Bowe was money and one helluva blocker. J Reed/Clayton-solid. Clayton and some of those kickoff team hits. His running down Karlos Dansby INT @ Auburn-complete football player. I grew up pretending to be W. Davis. Shame about veterans stadium & what could've been. Anyone fuzzy on his skill set or too young to remember, just check out the 88 gator bowl on you tube. I'll take the Davis, McGee,Moss

Tony Moss was All-SEC as a slot receiver and a great compliment to Wendell Davis. Was around 5'8" and probably quicker than fast, but was very effective. Both went on to the NFL, Davis stuck around longer.

Not in 1987, he wasn't...
... but I understand there's a lot of subjectivity involved in these types of discussions about how to rate freshmen who weren't quite ready to play, players who could have produced more but didn't get that much playing time, players who were partially injured, etc.

1. Bowe, Davis, Doucet...Hands down, the most NFL talent with size, speed, and physicality jumping off of the charts. Bowe was a freak in that he was a deep threat, a helluva crack down blocker, and a 3rd down possession guy (much more so after his junior season). Davis was underrated and often overlooked, but ran a terrific crossing pattern route and showed his athleticism in games like '06 Fresno State and Arkansas. Doucet was just an all-round athlete who could have played any skill position on the field. He was an incredible leaper with smooth route running and topnotch hands. These three could be said to be the best and many would argue that is because of J. Russell or in spite of J. Russell. Either scenario, they were and still are best ever at LSU.
2. Reed, Clayton, Meyers
3. Clayton, Henderson, Green
4. Davis, McGee, Moss
5. Randle, Beckham, 3rd WR varied
