He and Bo can't fix the D in a week or 2.
It may improve, but not by 50%.

Back to the presser, he sounded like our baseball coach. Under the bus with the players. I’m sorry dude, there’s a few million reason$ that the shitty performance is solely at your feet

Did you even listen to the press conference? He must have said “it starts with coaching, and it falls on me” 50 times.

Ha, O could chew me out and call me a pussy for hours every day, and I'd just sit back and count that $2.3 million that I know is coming in, regardless of how bad I am at my job.

bullshite. Bo is the EXACT guy to run the EXACT defense Ed wanted. He ain’t chewing shite on that side of the ball. Except the players who they’ve put under the bus in an impossible situation.

GTFO!! If you think Coach O isn't chewing a new a-hole on everyone you have lost your fricking mind!

Who cares if O is chewing everybody an new arsehole?
A temper tantrum is no substitute for actual coaching. If the players are lost, confused and are blowing coverages, yelling will not impart a lot of understanding.
This is a Bo Pelini solution to a Bo Pelini induced problem.
Either coach these players up, or find someone who will for 7 million /yr.

Seriously? I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. Aranda’s 3-4 was basically to have 3 big arse DL engaging blockers and clogging holes so his fast, athletic linebackers could come clean up and make the tackles. Debo, Riley, White, Queen all greatly benefited from this scheme both statistically and financially.

A 4-3 relies on defensive linemen to make more tackles than the 3-4. Also, it’s right there in the names, there’s literally one less linebacker in a 4-3 than a 3-4. Reason would suggest that means there will be less linebackers on the field—usually only 2 with all the nickel and dime and one of them often dropping back in coverage—and that would be less appealing to stud high school LBs who are typically heat-seeking missiles attacking the ball carriers.

And I’m not even saying that’s bad, just that there appears to be a natural recruiting trade off depending on what system you run. You disagree?

I didn’t say he wasn’t chewing anybody out. He very well may be. But 1) I’m not sure how productive that will be, and 2) Pelini is the biggest problem, and it’s one Ed himself asked for. It’d be like a pitching coach calling for a fastball low and away, the pitcher hitting his spot, the hitter hitting a bomb anyway, and the pitching coach chews out the pitcher. For executing the very pitch the coach called for.

Improving 50% isn't that hard when they're that bad.

LSU's defense isn't "below average" or even "bad". It's historically terrible. Improving from that to just being "bad" would be a landmark improvement.

This was my post, and it’s currently got like 13 downvotes to 4 up. I don’t care at all about downvotes relative to my self-worth, but I am genuinely curious about the discrepancies.

About the discrepancies, I agree with part of this and disagree with part. Agree that Bo is the guy to run the exact defense Ed wants. Disagree that he won't chew shite. It's possible to hand pick the person you think is best for the job and still blow up when they don't get it done. You can have the best hand picked employee in the world but none of them are perfect everyday - just because you picked them, or even that they are great most of the time, doesn't mean you can't ride them when they underperform, It is expected and happens every day in every walk of life.

How did he throw the players under the bus? He has said repeatedly that he puts everything on the coaches.

If he meant that, he would not throw players under the bus and he certainly would not bring Aranda's name up.

He has not and will not accept responsibility for the defensive product HE has brought to the field.

Maybe that’s why he didn’t throw any players under the bus, or bring Aranda’s name up?

I feel like at least half the people bitching about the presser didn’t even listen to it.
