This was from the presser yesterday:

"Q: You mentioned the possible personnel changes on defense, defensive end, meeting with Jacoby Stevens. On all the meetings that you guys had yesterday how much difference can this defense look in the weeks to come?

ED ORGERON: I don't think you're going to see -- yeah, not letting people run by us and score touchdowns uncontested. That's a good start. That would be a great start."

You think??

O still had the audacity to take a shot at Aranda yesterday. Despite defense is horrendous.

bullshite. Bo is the EXACT guy to run the EXACT defense Ed wanted. He ain’t chewing shite on that side of the ball. Except the players who they’ve put under the bus in an impossible situation.

He needs to call out himself. His comments about moving the game up so we could have more time to prep for Florida were epic bulletin board material for Mizzou. Basically told the guys, "No need to take this one seriously." Terrible head coach attitude, especially from one who is primarily a motivator, not a tactician.

and i don't understand throwing shade on the D from 2019. sure, we didn't play great D last year, but they did enough. It's a new season. Can't live in the past. No reason to bring up last season.

That shouldn’t be necessary! Youth, inexperience, learning a new system are perfectly reasonable reasons for assignment busts, etc. These factors should matter less with each game. There is no excuse for lack of effort, laying down, giving up or not having pride.

It certainly could indicate that there’s more going on beyond the X’s and O’s.

He has consistently called out Aranda, which tells you what a horrible person he is. Always someone else’s fault. Aranda saved this clown’s job more than a few times over the years, and had the defense dialed in when it counted most. Go ask Dabo and his pretty boy QB what they think of Aranda’s D.

Back to the presser, he sounded like our baseball coach. Under the bus with the players. I’m sorry dude, there’s a few million reason$ that the shitty performance is solely at your feet

Good. He should. The season is cooked so the message to the guys playing is that you step up your game or we invest in our future and play a bunch of true freshman to give them experience.

That crossed my mind when he said it but, the prep was in for Missouri whether we played the game early or late so he wasn’t really selling Missouri short, but if you’re looking for material, I guess that would be enough.

Of course he’s not thrilled. He’s just lost to 2 of the worst teams in the SEC and didn’t look great defensively in our lone win against THE worst team in the SEC. But the guy he should be most pissed at—Pelini—is the one guy he has no right to be pissed at.

This was my post, and it’s currently got like 13 downvotes to 4 up. I don’t care at all about downvotes relative to my self-worth, but I am genuinely curious about the discrepancies.

Is it the tone or are there that many of you who don’t think Ed got EXACTLY what he wanted with Bo. He wanted a 4-3 because he’s a defensive line coach, and that’s what he’s been teaching for 35 years and wants to be more involved. He wanted a 4-3 because it’s more aggressive, and that’s his nature—he wants to dictate to the offense instead of the other way around. And he very successfully did it with the change in offensive philosophy last year—we are gonna be aggressive on offense and dictate to the defense what we are going to do.

And I think one thing that is much more important to Ed that hasn’t really been discussed is that he’s a recruiter at heart, and he wanted a 4-3 because he thinks it will help him recruit elite defensive linemen that specialize in getting penetration and making big plays behind the line of scrimmage. I think Ed felt Aranda’s 3-4 made it harder for him to land those elite DLinemen. And he was probably right. It was my biggest concern when we hired Aranda, and I do think it came to fruition to a certain extent, though our linebacker recruiting improved (and will likely become harder with the move to the 4-3).

And Ed hand-picked Pelini to install, teach, and call the 4-3. This wasn’t like the Canada hire, which was kinda thrust upon him without proper time to vete Matt. Bo’s been around forever—Ed knew EXACTLY what he was getting with him. So I don’t think he has any business being pissed at Bo. This is what he wanted.

Now, after 2019, I think he earned the right to do just about anything he wanted. And with the unprecedented losses to the NFL and opt outs combined with the overall craziness of this whole year, we could wind up finishing 1-9, and I’d still give Ed a pass. That’s how amazing 2019 was. He’s earned a longer leash than maybe any other coach in LSU history not named Skip Bertman. Still, regarding LSU football in the post Curly Hallman era, that leash won’t ever be THAT long, and he’s gonna have to get some shite figured out real quick before ‘21. And his being pissed at anybody but himself is unproductive and misplaced.
