That is not a flame. It was a huge rivalry then, laden with emotion and anyone who was at that game will remember. Top 10 rivalry at that time acc'd to many polls. That was an extremely exciting game, even though the Tigers lost. I am not fan of TU FB.

These are my personal favorite 3.

1. Auburn 2007 - Thought I was going to die.
2. Georgia 2003 - Thought that kicker was going to get lynched by his own teammates
3. Florida 2005 - All around exciting.

October 1, 1949 -- LSU 14 Rice 7

- Rice finished 10-1 that year
- they were Southwest Conference Champs

that year, Rice beat Clemson, New Mexico, SMU, Texas, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Texas A&M, TCU, Baylor, and North Carolina in the Cotton Bowl.

Their only loss was in Tiger Stadium. I don't know if it was a "great game" but it would seemingly be significant

LSU beat three conference champions that year:

Rice - SWC
North Carolina - Southern Conference
Tulane - SEC

That was the first year I attended a game in Tiger Stadium - saw the Tigers demolish Southeastern.

I started coming to games in 1999 when i was 9; best games I've seen (and I missed the 00 Tenn game )

01 Auburn: LSU 17/Auburn 14 awesome game!!! (December 1st, winner to SEC Champ., "Tuba" game)
07 Florida: LSU 28/Florida 24
03 UGA: LSU 17/UGA 10

The 3 best I personally witnessed:

1. Florida 97
2. Florida 07
3. Tenn 00

a few other great ones I can recall:

Auburn 95
Auburn 01
Auburn 07
UGA 03
Bammer 00
and dare I say it, but Auburn 96. Even though we lost, that was one of the most exciting football games I've ever seen. Cecil went crazy on Auburn's D, but unfortunately, Damien Craig went crazy on our D. That was an unbelievably tough lost, but a great game nonetheless.

Either Florida 97 or 07, depending on what you are going for. Best for the fans, 97. Most intense game, 07.

Forgot about 76 Nebraska

Nebraska pre-season #1
LSU coming off a 5-6 season, including a 7-10 loss to Nebraska.

Nebraska drives 80 yards on opening drive, then misses the PAT (bad snap if I remeber correcty)

From then on the LSU fans were in the game.

Closest they came to scoring again was a blocked 37 yard field goal.

Final 6-6
