I'm more curious about how much influence Mussleman has. If Jones gives him a lot influence in game planning and development, then this team is composed of some seriously low basketball iq's. If Jones doesn't, then it's time Mussleman helps run the show
Can't believe Martin didn't foul their 48% FT on that rebound at the end. But then again, they didn't really show a good angle on TV as to whether he had a good opportunity to foul him before it was passed to the dude who was 9-10 from the line.

Absolutely right !!! Players need to step up and earn that scholarship

But this is what ppl don't understand. Fans literally have NO IDEA what the play calls are. Who's to say the plays aren't being called and just not executed? How and why do people just automatically blame the coach
We have plays?

Ben is self-motivated, and team-oriented. He doesn't understand most of kids with near his talent are not.
All coaches at this level have to deal mostly with the anti-Simmons's. Those who do it best get the most out of their teams.

You can't really argue against the fact that the execution was piss poor. That inbound pass was pretty pathetic. If a player has in game brain lapses i'm not sure why that's the coaches fault.

So.... he's taking a shot at the players?
Yep. Blame the coach = disloyal. Blame the players = loyal. Don't ask me why. It's a pumper thing. I wouldn't understand.

He is right and LSU has players look like they are on sleeping pills.
Happens when you have no depth. Dont know why people cant accept that they're simply stretched too thin

It was the coach's fault because there was no set inbounds play they could run that would get someone open. There never is. Have you ever seen this team set a screen on an inbounds play? No. One player cuts toward the ball and the others basically just stand around. That's the inbounds play. The only one we have.

I watched the game and saw Auburn shoot the lights out of the PMAC from 3 point line, especially in the first half i.e. 50%. I didn't see anybody sleep walking ,Auburn was on fire and their coach Pearl kept them pumped with his jacket removal routine.
That excuse works if you lose one bad game. It doesn't work if you lose them consistently. Every damned shitty team we play looks like a tournament team when they play LSU. That's not just our bad luck. We are making them look good.

Ben Simmons is gonna save JJ's job next year after we go to the NIT again this year

I bet the team is getting really excited to play with Simmons.
If he can pass and finish, I'll bet they are too.

I don't know why people try and blame the coach for every loss, a lot of the time it comes down to players executing plays and making shots
I like his attitude and I think with Simmons/Blakeney we will have better execution because of their work ethic and basketball I.Q. However, two freshman can only do so much.

I sit behind the bench. I see more than just 3 guys sitting there. Odo, Malone, Robinson, Epps certainly aren't all SEC type of players, but there is no reason they can't come in for a minute or two each half. Instead, Jones opts for a completely undersized Bridgewater to come in and get dominated in the post. Plus, as a HC if you're concerned your primary players are getting a bit tired out there, call a TO! You get 5 of them to go along with 4 media TOs. At MSU Johnny Jones used NO timeouts in the first half.
A lack of depth doesn't explain 15 turnovers every game. It doesn't explain an inefficient offense that constantly bogs down in the halfcourt and has little to no movement away from thee ball. It doesn't explain a continuous adventure in simply in-bounding the basketball. The same issues show up EVERY GAME

Good sign that Simmons wants to take up for his coach, but Jones coaches like a clown. He refuses the call timeouts when his team is losing momentum, or at a crucial juncture in the game. His team lacks basic fundamentals. How many times have we failed to inbound the ball, or box a man out, or make a layup? Why do we turn the ball over so much? Why can't we make free throws? Why do we force jumpers when we can overwhelm basically every team with our inside guys? Why do we suck at rotating defensively? Why does our offense lack consistent ball movement? Most importantly, why in the frick does Josh Gray play in crunch time?
Watching the basketball team is almost like an extension of watching the football team. We play down to the competition, almost every game is uncomfortably close, we have an absurd amount of talent, but we struggle with execution. Furthermore, neither Miles or Jones show any emotion on the sideline. That's not necessarily a slight, I'd just prefer our coach show a little bit of fire here and there.

Does anyone else wonder what we do at practice?
Posted on 2/6/15 at 9:54 am to ILeaveAtHalftime
He is correct. The coaches cannot make simple layups. Some of our players are lazy with layups. They don't even look up to the rim. The coaches cannot stop the turnovers.
