Nope.. he could not international players must

- Permanently reside outside of the U.S. for at least three years before the draft while playing basketball outside of the U.S.

-Have never enrolled in a U.S. college or university.

-Did not complete high school in the U.S.

And he had his eyes on the NBA before he ever moved to the US, so he could have.

The guy didn't want to play college ball and LSU didn't have to offer him. He might have not have given his best effort here, but he certainly isn't a loser.

He makes some good points, but he also comes off as a self-entitled douche.

Eh, competition is pretty strong and things can get heated when you are competing for a position.

You must have some good Band camp stories.

I love it and agree with Ben, instead lets pay the players.

That's a stupid idea that won't change anything.

Do you think colleges can pay more than NBA teams for talent? Whatever a college offers will pale in comparison, and you're right back where you started: One and done.

The solution is for players to have options after high school besides just college. The problem with that is that the NCAA doesn't want to lose these blue chip players to a development league or the NBA for one reason - the popularity of March Madness would plummet without these hired guns.

I say frick 'em, college basketball should be played amongst college students, not mercenaries.

you should just be able to go straight to the pros out of high school. There's really not a good argument otherwise.

Thats not how any professional team works. Nor really any company. they aren'y asking to be equity partners.

Yep.

There are interests that are against this - the NBA players union for one, the NCAA March Madness organization for another.

I watched one LSU basketball game all of last season. Saw that prima donna half-assing it, and gave up.

He can't shoot - period. Will be a huge flop in NBA. Don't say Lebron could not shoot at first either. He's no Lebron. Lebron is a freak of nature, Simmons is not.

Lol. You watched one game so your opinion is definitely valid. Our fans are hilarious. The best player in the country falls in our lap, but our inept coach bumbles through the year never defining his (or anyone's) role, subsequently falls flat on his face with the most talented team he'll ever have but it's somehow the 18 year old that should have been in the NBA's fault.

And who hired that coach and is in charge of the search for the most important coaching hire at LSU?

God help us.

Ben Simmons could have stayed in Australia and not had to play college for one year

He could have played overseas last year and not had to play in college

He chose to come to the US to play HS basketball here and he chose to play college last year.

He could have chosen some financial classes that could help him in the future.

He did get a lot of exposure by playing HS and college sports in the US.

Does anyone think he get a big contract from NIKE if he had stayed in Australia until the draft?

His choices and talent have led him to a big shoe contract and to being the number one draft pick last year.

He should be grateful to LSU for getting all that free exposure for his internship.

Simmons comes across as a entitled brat that hated his time in college while the other superstar at LSU, Fournette, seems to relish his time on campus. Fournette has to play college for 3 years while Simmons only had to suffer one season in college. The horror.

Agree with most of your comment. However, let's not anoint Fournette as an angel. He has turned into a prima donna as well. He basically dictates when he wants to play as he wants to protect his body for the pros.

that prima donna bitch didn't want to play inside because he is a soft little bitch. No way JJ didn't want him to play inside more. If you noticed most plays after dead balls were him posted down low and successful...no that little bitch was soft and wanted to show off his ball handling skills, meanwhile he was absolutely no threat to hit a shot from 15ft and beyond.

You don't know that. Either way, he was still our most consistent and best post player. Good god our fans are basketball-illiterate.

Because he's a great ball-handler and even better passer for a guy his size. Bottom line is he was grossly misused. Blame Simmons if you want. You're the one that looks dumb for it
