If you are a true LSU bbl fan or a fan of college bbl in general, you should be embarrassed for even posting the question.

Come on Peej, I know you go back to before Bob Petit and Harry Rabenhoarst you old fart. Ben compares more to Petit than Pistol. But you really don't know much about basketball now do you. Well I guess that goes for sports in general

If you wanna compare Pete to another former tiger, try Chris Jackson

We NEVER made the BIG dance with Pete...... ALL hype!!!...

Have you ever looked at LSU's basketball history before Pete came here?? Our varsity record was 3-23 when Pete played on the freshman team. So to say that Pete never led us to the BIG DANC is just stupid. Most of his time here all we had was Pete. It wasn't until late that he had a help with Apple Sanders and Bill Newton. They finished the season 20-8 and lost in the NIT. At that time there were only 25 teams in the NCAA Tournament as compared to 64 now, so that comparison can't be made either.

Wins and losses don't go on a players record. I don't think Simmons holds up to pistol but both are outstanding players with stats that show they are a cut above the rest.

Not even close. If you want to compare, go with Chris Jackson and Pete.

Simmons isn't in that class.

This thread is as silly as comparing Jim Brown to Barry Sanders.
Pete played against a bunch of slow white guys who couldn't jump
Pete didn't play as a true freshman.
What was Pete's record vs Kentucky?

Those two names should never be mentioned in the same sentence.

how many times did we make a tournament between 1953 and 1968? One year we went go the tournament, and you make it as though LSU was in the same class as Kentucky. Nice

Been visiting this site for about a decade...
And I can honestly say that this is THE WORST thread ever... Worse than moving Fournette to LB even...

It was something like 3-23 the year before.

If the 3-point rule had been in effect when Pete played, they probably would've banned him from the league.

No one hates Ben, but to put him in the same category with Pete Maravich or even Chris Jackson is ludicrous! I know it's hard to live up to the hype, but you can't blame fans for being a little down from what they have seen this season. I have no doubt Simmons will continue to improve and has a great future, but he just hasn't made the impact at this time that the fans expected. It's up to Simmons if he wants to come back next year and improve his stock and support from the fans.
