I didn't know that either before today. I googled him and saw that he was from there, got his undergrad at Nicholls, his Master's at LSU, Is President of the La. Chemical Assoc., AND is an adjunct faculty member at LSU... That is probably what surprised me the most!
ETA: Anyone here ever take his class?

Just a little more trivia:
When Dan Borne lived in Thibodaux, he pronounced his last name without the emphasis on the E. It was just like Born. When he moved to BR, he changed the pronunciation to Born'e, with emphasis on the E as if it were two syllables. To each their own.
