After watching his highlights and AJ's highlights, you have to be a retard to think Harris isn't going to be our starter.

He just looks like a guy that deserves to be there. He has more confidence than AJ had when he was handed the role of starter late last season after Mett's injury. I am sorry but Harris, and I have said this for months now, will be the guy.

Jordan Jefferson was the last True Freshmen to start for LSU and he ended up going 4-1 or something I think that year.

Don't think Les won't go with another Freshmen, he will go with the best option and Harris is it.

Sorry Rettig.

Came in at end of Ole Miss game which was a loss. Lost the Arkansas game with zero offense in the 2nd half. Won the bowl game against Georgia Tech. Many glossed over his actual stats though. 16/25 142/1/0. Didn't exactly set the world on fire.

It's obvious that Harris has the best physical tools at the QB position on the roster. Should be a great competition and Cam will choose the one that gives the team the best chance to win.

I was asking really, I didn't know the exact stat line. I said 4-1 or something like that. I couldn't recall

I could see a dual system starting out and then a transition to Harris but I can't imagine les and co letting a true freshman start the first snap

serious questions:

don't you think this has been talked about enough the past two days??

was your opinion any different than the other 739 threads started about this same topic?

Liked the post except for this:

We should all get this word out of our vocabulary.

1. better than Jennings bowl game, but Iowa D > GTech's D
2. that is actually one of his better all time performances
3. i am super sad after thinking about 2

He actually had an 86 yard pass TD called back which would have made it 17/25 228 2 TDs and added another 25 yards on the ground, which is great in a game where you are a true freshman in your 2nd start against a top 15 team. I mean Scott was the leading rusher with 65 yards, Williams was #2 with 42, and JJ was #3.

I agree with this. If Harris can be good when the defense is not vanilla, and he runs the full offense in the fall pretty decent, then he should start. If Jennings has improved his accuracy and actually leans on his legs as an asset, then he will start. Those are the only real things still holding them back.

wow, I love your open mindedness. I wish someone like you was our head coach. Just write everyone off and go with the guy who played one good game.

There's no reason to not start Harris. He looked light years better than JJ. I can remember JJ throwing it in the dirt on almost every pass in spring games. Of course the rant insisted it was just practice.

Whatever the outcome I trust the coaches and I can't wait for the rant to turn up the conspiracy that they aren't playing the best guy

Have you not learned yet that what the fans see is not everything the coaches see?

Harris may look like the better QB but that does not mean he will be the starter. Sure as hell not for the 1st game.... I hope so though

All this really means is once again LSU will be held back by the QB position.

I have a few worries about Harris being the starter and I think he'd be better off with limited snaps in blowouts to get him ready for next year:

1. He is very thin. Could really use 30-40 lbs of muscle at least. And with the way he moves around in the pocket, he might get broken in half by some SEC DL or LB.

2. He doesn't have the offensive rhythm down IMO. Sure he can make plays outside the pocket and has good pocket awareness, but to sustain drives thats not really what we need. We need a methodical game manager with our defense, OL, and running game.

3. Youth. Even Manziel and Winston redshirted a year and learned the system. Harris doesn't have the knowledge of the offense, and no one can expect him to. He also stares down receivers and misses some check downs.

I know AJ didn't play great, but I think he knows the offense better, has better chemistry with the offense (for good reason) and should be our starter until he becomes a liability. We shouldn't judge him on Iowa. We should judge him on Wisconsin.

ETA:

and I will add it is clear Harris has some freakish talent, but the kid should still technically be in HS. Rushing along kids too soon can really hurt them in the long run.

Also, I was upset Rettig didn't get more opportunities. Not that I think he's better than the other two, but I would like to see it for myself. He clearly has the arm strength, size, and pedigree.

Miles/Cam will have the best QB playing. Whether that's Jennings, Harris or Rettig.

But at this point Harris looks the part and Jennings looks lost..

I have no doubt this is true. Either way the QB position will be a weakness. It's frustrating knowing the talent the LSU has and see that one spot constantly holding us back.

The fact is that Harris completed less than 40% of his passes against EXTREMELY limited defensive packages. This season I think the thing that will get him on the field is his legs not his arm.
