Why?? Because he's expressing hope for a coach we're stuck with anyway?

Lets see. He's from Louisiana. Grew up an LSU fan. Went to LSU for a year as a player. The majority of his family and friends are LSU fans that live in Louisiana. The man has spoken with a cajun accent his entire life.

I'm quite positive he has said (as we all would have said)a lot of great things) about any great opportunity.

Us "idiots" clearly see the difference between a great opportunity that we might embellish a little and something that is truly a dream job thats in our soul. Ed O has his dream job and any blind man can see that.

Wrong. Went to LSU TWO DAYS as a player, student, or anything else.

He didn’t grow up an LSU fan.

He has talked about this. He grew up a USC fan. He said his family would want to watch the LSU game and if USC was on he would make them change the channel.

He has discussed this more than once openly and publicly prior to being at LSU .

The man is a politician.

Neither did I. But that didn’t stop me from going to every home and away game for 12 straight seasons...

And it didn’t stop Edward Orgeron from takin a payday way beyond his worth.

Your point?

Oh you think this turned into his dream job over time ?

Gotcha ...yeah okay . I’m sure he was counting the days til he finally got his chance at LSU while he was at USC . He had other chances to work for LSU and turned it down, so not sure you do that with your “dream job”.

The “dream job” thing is irrelevant , but its touted and some badge of honor the fan base has pinned on him. It’s just inaccurate.

This. It’s such an asinine talking point.

CRA_CRA, Great observation. I cant agree more. We are at a minimum addressing our issues unlike under Miles. I also believe O will manage the roster much better then miles.

He’s not going anywhere. We are already better off than we’d have ever been with Miles.

He will be here a looooooong time.

That’s nice. We will see. Unfortunately, if you’re wrong, the damage will take years to repair.

Mike Archer had a hell of a first year at LSU.

I am still skeptical but hopeful. I really do feel like that over time his natural limitations will ultimately be an anchor to us, but I hope I'm wrong.

I thought the same of Les and he managed to remain more successful than I ever thought he could longer than I ever thought he could until it finally crashed down on him. He did have IMHO have an inordinate amount of good fortune early on the odds finally started to even out on him in that regard, but still he exceeded my modest expectations for him.

If O could do the same for as long, I would be very surprised but very happy about that.

Like clockwork....

Like everyone else, I was hoping for a big name hire. But considering all of the finances involved, (including paying Miles, buyouts of other coaches, etc, etc,) I think LSU made the smartest choice available to them at the time.

And like so many others, I am cautiously optimistic and hoping it works out. I choose to be as positive and supportive of the coaches and players as possible, instead of being part of the loser crowd that wants to insult the guy at every turn.

Coach O has, in a very short period of time, addressed almost everything we as fans have been pointing out for years... things we have all felt have been holding us back. Thats plenty reason to be optimistic.

Had LSU really tanked this year, I would have been the first person (at the end of the season) to say we need to move a different direction quickly.

But I think if you objectively look at what he did to the team last year, how we have responded this year (with all the freshman), you see a very well coached team that is improving week to week. You see issues being addressed quickly. You are seeing strong leadership.

Next year is going to be very very tough. I have written about this for over a year now. Very tough schedule, new QB, new RB's, etc. This board will do a lot of fighting next year. But I hope we look at all the pieces and look closely to see if the team is being well coached and how things are being handled before making a true assessment.

2019, IMO, is when things should really start working in our favor if:
1. Ed O can keep strong coordinators'
2. Ed O can change the culture of the QB position
3. Ed can recruit the next 2 years on the level with the top programs

IMO, if he does these 3 things over the next 2 years, LSU will be poised to win multiple championships over the next decade. If he falls short on these 3 things, the road will be tough....

Until that time, I am going to root him on and support him and the players in every way I can,

The smartest choice is the one that can win the most games, finances be damned. Letting buyouts dictate your decision making process is short sighted. You win games, win championships, money follows.

Do you believe Orgeron was the best choice to win the most games, yes or no?
