We need Beckwith and Jones at LB.
I just remember Welter running backward taking on an offensive lineman. Yeldon was running through that hole.
Until something changes we will have safeties playing linebackers.
Coaches should take advantage of talent.

If he can rush the passer at an ALL-SEC level then he should be at DE. A dominant pass rusher is the most rare of them all in today's CFB and NFL.
To have one, gives you a huge advantage in any game.
It's in his best interest financially as well to see if he can get after QB's from a 4-3, DE. He can always play LB.
Coaches doing right by Beckwith, even if they need him most at LB.

Chavis doesn't like LB's that big. He will gain at least 10 lbs or more in the next several years and be 260.....too big for Chavis.
Minter was 6'0 231 coming out of HS and ended up 6'0 246 when he left. Beckwith is 6'3 246 (per LSUSports), let this monster play. Then next year we should have 6'2 240 Clifton Garrett and 6'2 218 (per LSUSports) Kwon Alexander. Lotta speed , good amount of beef and all we'll need is to get Kwon around 230, 235.
That starting lineup with Debo, Louis, Phillips, as backups with Young (hopefully), incoming Alexander, will sure up depth.

The kid has been a DE all his life, he's NEVER played LB before.
You could not be more wrong if you were trying to be wrong intentionally.

My comp to Beckwith all along has been D'onta Hightower - who did both at Alabama and very effectively.
Hightower would line up as the Mike backer until pass rushing situations. They would then use him as a stand up rush defensive end.

Sheppard was probably close to 250

Chavis did this with Leonard Little his senior yr, and also looked to be doing it with Beckwith some. so it's not entirely out of the question that he does both as he develops.

Chavis liks little farts who get blown up on every play! He prefers welterweights to heavweights, that's why we suck! We need big, physical, fast linebackers.

Beckwith will end up at linebacker.. there is to much talent better than him at DE..

Coaches doing right by Beckwith?
How do you figure?
You just said he can always play LB. Why waste your freshman year seeing very limited action at DE?
I would imagine he would be able to crack our rotation by now if his future at DE was imminent. Not like the ones playing are excelling by any means.
And in the meantime, how does he not rate even a half versus a cream puff at one of the LBer positions.

Bower for one...
No way, but your username makes me think you will never admit that.

Bowers can hold the line much better than Beckwith could..
Bechwith can be a very good rush linebacker..

What are you basing this off of? They weigh practically the same and Beckwith has actually played this year in meaningful games.

Bower has played in meaning games as well.. and has made some 3rd stops on the line of scrimmage..
Beckwith was used for only 3rd and long..
Bower is taller and longer

BEckwith is fast enough to play LB for Chavis. It's not that Chavis likes small LB's it's that he likes fast LB's. Beckwith is plenty fast enough to play LB.

Yeah, let's take a 210 kid, juice him up to 240, so he can never get to the QB on a blitz, never fill a gap, never shed a block
Yeah, we got Welter for that at 226 lbs. He's already unable to do all those things. Beckwith needs to find another position. That would be a waste.

Yes.
I agree with that, and I also agree with the Bower poster.
